I agree Marek, let common sense prevail. And let anyone who can honestly claim never to have uttered a non-PC sentiment stand up and be counted. Or stuffed and mounted.

Not wishing to drag this on as it is damaging for the council but had common sense prevailed in the first place we would have nothing to discuss.

Yes Mark you are right, if common sense had prevailed:
1. Bob would not have posted it in the first place.
2. His political opponents would not have moved heaven and earth to make the issue into a cause célèbre which might cost him his job.
3. The press would not have initiated a feeding frenzy of PC-minded sanctimonious do-gooders.
It has died down in the meeja now, let's leave it to the Tories to deal with it in private.

i haven't seen any statements from prominent local reds on the situation, only the blues.
so not a case of political bandwagon jumping.

Given that Manwood has a significant number of African boarders - he is highly likely to be forced down the path of early retirement....

I may well be in a minority here
but i know that bob posted knowing full well it was likely to offend and cause uproar.
bob is not a person to avoid such controversy which we have seen on this forum.
thats bobs choice
but with choices comes responsibility

With a lot of clever people there can be a decided lack of common sense which is a great shame.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

The African boarders, being highly intelligent people, are most likely to accept his comments not as a racist slur but as a satirical condemnation of rioters of all colours. Decent people of all non-indigenous races hate media treatment of such behaviour by small minorities within ethnic groups which perpetuates an incorrect perception of those groups as a whole. They also resent vicarious offence being taken by the white majority on their behalf.
If they are offended they will speak. They don't need us snowdrops to do it for them.

Whilst I wholeheartedly agree with you Peter - the governors who will decide his fate are, I suspect, not nearly as enlightened

Was Wayne Elliott is the senior Conservative colleague who declined to be named, who according to the Dover Express, described Mr Frost as "a f****** idiot"? Very nice whoever it was...!

Keith, how many times have you prayed the rosary on this interesting subject? Do you still use old 78s?
