a few points need to be answered here.
i doubt if anyone "shopped" him to the press, journalists follow people like bob avidly for obvious reasons.
kathy from the express has openly replied to many of his comments in the past.
i doubt also if a 59 year old educated man can be egged on by anybody.
bob may indeed be an excellent teacher, many parents will disagree with that as evidenced by e mails sent to paulb referring to insulting comments he has made about his pupils.
A 59 year old man is as open to egging on as anyone else if someone skilled in egging on is involved. Journos who follow people for a bit of a quick fix in the nationals would be contemptible - I am sure no-one reading this would be so low as to do that.

As I recall the conversation was between Bob and Howard and there was no-one egging him on
We can - all of us - only speculate, and make some generalised comments.

I've been very hesitant to post anything about this.
I will not condemn Bob for his unfortunate phraseology. Just a few postings seem to have an element of balance:
Marek, for supporting him - not his comments I know.
Bern, for asking how this escalated so quickly and saying that so many people seem to be jumping on the "condemnation bandwagon".
Ross - very sensible posting.
Peter, for asking who is is that's offended about this and the above posting about the possibility of a good school (hopefully not) losing a good teacher.
Making political points out of this is, to me, distasteful.
Roger
I can only agree Roger - and it is good to hear from you.

Why? What have they been accused of doing?

according to those articles its 2 members of the same party are supposed to have been outraged by the comments
and according to the paper one gave comment on what he thought of bob
but that all said its for the local conservative to decide action(if any)
there was an earlier question on could he continue, even if the tories did kick him out, he would still be a cllr until the next election but would not be a conservative cllr

I dont think it will happen
but i think we should allow the local conservatives to come to some decision on this case and move on

Ref my earlier post Bern, add unspeakable, pursuit and uneatable to the list. And possibly hypocrite as well. And how about molehill and mountain?

I hope Bob learns from this obvious mistake and realises that once in the public domain one has to be careful about making witty remarks and is allowed to continue working for the people he represents in Deal either as a Tory or an Independant councillor.

marek
we clearly have differing views which is fine
my only concern is those that have been highlighted by others that this s not an isolated incident.
but as i say its up to the local conservatives what happens next

More words: Hubris, schadenfreude and tankers. I may have misspelled the last one.
I think the general attitude is demonstrated by the shouty title on this thread, frankly, But as Marek says, let's move on - it's time for dust to settle and proper grown up decisions to be made in a rational way. I am holding my breath..........

Just let Bob get on with life and let the stuffy Tory councillors waste their time ,energy and breath condemning the poor lad at endless emergency committee meetings. Far worse things happen at sea.
