John, your posting 74, I can assure you it is not sour grapes nor memory loss and I can take all and any aspertions you care to make, I took it before and I can take it again. My only concern is to bring to account those councillors who believe they are unaccountable. So far I know for certian that ex mayor Sue Jones and Pam Brivio voted against and I will add others as I find out and I hope others will do the same.

What really is more to the point is that 5 Councillors were not present for the vote thus meaning there had to be close to unanimity for anyone to be selected. Surely the vote should have been delayed until all were present or the voting system needs to be looked at to amend it to 2/3rds of those present at the meeting.

Ken surely you should enquire as to why they voted against before posting their names especially as they are not members here and effectively are therefore denied a right of reply.

Agree partly, but if it is true why would they wish to conceal an open vote made in a public office?

Do they?
Has anyone asked them?
Or are we all just speculating?

Agree with Bern, it's a public vote in a publically electable office so no reason to hide it.
The reason for posting on here would be the high level of interest and the delay in the council making the minutes public - always providing the info is correct of course, so good on Howard for holding back until confirmed but get a move on please

.

I have told you why I voted and my logic for voting the way I did,I can not speak for other Cllrs,as I said I did not look around the room to see who voted and which way.My vote is one of 18.Cllr Diane Smallwood was not there at the meeting because she is currently unwell.
I have no idea why the others werent there except Cllr Jan Tranter who explained that she missed the Vote.

you will have a long wait stewart,my latest information is that wise heads are getting together to retrieve the situation.
we have been lucky nothing on either local news stations tonight, usually someone tips them off.
#90 - no-one suggested it Ross, I was just asking why we should need to be cautious if it is all in the public domain anyway.
I am interested to see how this will be retrieved and by whom.

Stewart I have no idea which way you voted. What does interest me is why was it necessary to have the meeting at such short notice prior to a scheduled meeting thus denying councillors the opportunity to form their own opinions and the public to attend. If their is nothing to hide I say they should publish the minutes thereby removing any misguided speculation, after all what have they got to hide?

As far as I know it was not a recorded vote, unless the Secretary made notes of who voted for what, and as you know Ken unless it is called for it is normally For Against and Abstensions. No one called for a recorded vote, and I believe once it has been discussed and voted on,it cannot come back to the Council for 6 Months.
