The cuts have not happened yet. All the government has done is to slow down the rate of increase of public spending.

No cuts ??? try telling that to students who cant get a uni place, people who have lost their jobs and their homes and not forgetting going through a 2nd recession before we have recovered from the damn first one. labour blamed world economy for the last one which the conlibs critised , america hitting the rocks now

Mel
you are right. The first wave of cuts has already started but it hasn't hit the chattering classes so we can ignore it. It's only the great unwashed who are currently affected and they probably deserve it because they are too lazy, too old, too ill or too stupid.
Sadly the second wave will hit them harder and some will still be calling for deeper and faster cuts.
Thankyou Mark dont think weve spoken before but welcome to the forum, yes you to are right in what you say .

This has nothing to do with proposed cuts in police officers
This has everything to do with the people of London having little faith or trust in what the Met says, coupled with the Met's almost pathological inability to communicate with the people it polices. That coupled with the leadership crisis the Met is lurching through. has given the bored, the feckless and the criminal the opportunity to turn a legitimate and peaceful protest into a riot and looting frenzy

the cuts would of had an impact of numbers in the force ross

Indeed, if the Met had started implementing cuts, but they havent, they start next year

According to Unite there have been 1000 police staff job cuts in the past 7 months. these will be civilian staff doing admin jobs but, in their absence, police officers will be having to do their work. Morale is at an all time low according to the Met Police Federation.
Cuts in Sure Start, care homes, day centre services ....... the list goes on.
None of the above is justification for theft and thuggery but let's not delude ourselves that cuts aren't happening.

The cuts have well and truly started in Police numbers with barely any recruitment, officers retiring not being replaced, officers that signed on to stay past 30 years not having contracts renewed, officers being dismissed for minor misdemeanours that would have been a warning before etc etc.

If this is real, it is disgusting. A leaflet apparantly doing the rounds on advice on how to riot and how to minimise the chance of prosecution.

London,Birmingham,Liverpool plus.
The cuts have only been felt in a very small way.The main effect of the cuts `too fast too deep` have yet to be felt!
Problems of a similar magnitude in business the Managing Director would have back in control several days ago.............should be,was the same in Government.

What is truly despicable are those trying to pose this thuggery as being in some way to do with spending cuts or politics. I am surprised that you have fallen so low Reg.
