i don't remember posting on there before because of the wild things said by people with made up names.
however the amount of disinformation was so incredible i felt that a few unbiased facts were called for.
doubt if they will hit home, a chap there still thinks that his council tax paid for the new promenade despite all efforts to explain the truth.
overall the standard of debate here is far higher than anything on that website.

Agreed, that's why I don't bother with it. Facts are just a damned nuisance to most of the people on there. Unlike this forum of course where there is never any such nonsense.

Vic - much as I like you and I want to believe your heart is in the right place and you want the best for Dover, this continuous twisting of the facts, dissemination of spurious and often false information & wilful disregard for the democratically expressed wishes of the parishioners of Dover Town does you a huge disservice and tarnishes your reputation and frankly makes you look like a churlish fool. Please for your own sake just accept that the result is what it is and move on. If you want to campaign for a third option please do so, but do it honestly and truthfully,
As for you Alex, for someone who trumpets that they make a living from crafting the English language and doing research you are woefully ignorant, ill informed, write the most appalling prose that is often indecipherable and almost at times you wilfully and maliciously twist the facts to fit your world view. I do not know you and want to believe you mean well, but like many others on here have reached breaking point with you. I will not respond to any further posts from you as it is patently pointless.

I would amplify Ross's post to say: Vic, if you want the port to stay a trust port, campaign FOR that and not against us. Otherwise you risk making yourself look foolish. You have seen how easy it is to get a parish poll on a referendum question- try it.

I have tried to be the voice of reason but you havn't picked up on this,
many others have tried to explain that just because 75% couldn't/didn't vote doesn't mean they wr-ere all no voters.
some even poining out why some of these couldn't vote

Vic, I will say sorry in advance if this upsets you but you seem to have the hide of an elephant.
I am sorry to say you are just making a complete idiot of yourself with your posts about the Peoples Port. Your ramblings are no longer worth reading. It is time to accept that you are NOT always right.

Hopefully this thread will fizzle out over the next few days!
Or it goes on like a 78 record. Vic

(Good one!)
I'm bailing out of it!

There is no doubt anyone can say(within reason)anything they like but this is about having had all the facts laid before you, and you, yourself laying out your view, that it became quite obvious that you were never going to agree with the peoples port(don't forget i also have concerns)but that said i have tried to highlight i try not to be blnkered and my views are upfront, and you get it as it is.
We all have differing views on the subject which makes a healthy forum, what worries me is a number of posters are getting itchy that don't normally, and while you have put your point very well, like the UKIP thread people will stop reading it, and that's no good for your cause.
Of course vic, like yours, mine also is just a viewpoint

As most know The Dover Society mailed all its 444 members irrespective of their locality so included "Dover Town" and "Dover District"
The wording was as per the Dover Town Referendum and the result as under:
Members Voting: 278 (62.6% of membership)
Yes Vote: 264 (94.96%)
No Vote: 11 ( 3.96%)
Abstain: 3 (1.08%)

that was rather amusing pat, three people sent a postal reply to say that they would not be replying.
a bit like those premium rate phone ins where people actually make a premium rate phone call to say that they "don't know".

The 3 abstentions (1%) is probably about the right proportions for those who agree with Vic!

Barry, we wait and see on that one.And what happens to the port if anything later in the year.
Vic, I have heard of people throwing their weight behind a project but this is the first time I have seen anyone throw their weight in front of one!
