19:2694036Keith, the problem is publicity not planning. The Mercury have it on page 1 but DE thought John Paul Airs' attempt to con an italian boatyard was more important.
Next week it will be in the national press and if all else fails I suppose we shall have to put it in the Beano.

19:2694037Do not be taken in with them calling it the Peoples port it will never be that, please you must see all they are doing is trying to get you to vote for it and handover your cash,if you do that then it is goodbye to the cash you will never see any return on that.

19:2994038Nobody is being asked for cash unless they want to have a voice in how the port is run in the future.

20:3694050The port should stay as it is A royal port handed over to Dover to look after by Queen Mary ,she did not say in the Royal Charter that the Port could be sold off,as you know I wrote to Queen asking her not to sigh it over, she could stop it but she will not.200years ago the King would have said no to it ,but not todays royal family.

20:5294052200 years ago they ran the country, now the Queen is a figurehead and she has no choice in the matter. Thank goodness the world has changed and will keep on changing, there is nothing worse than stagnation.

20:5394053The lenders will have no vote. Only Dover people who have put up their token £10 will have a vote.
Vic the port was stolen from Dover by King James in 1606. We are trying to buy it back.

21:1594055Rubbish. The Queen will not interfere in a democratic process. If the structure is there and the parameters are set and clear as Peter indicates - lenders as sleeping partners, local stakeholders in control - this is indeed a proper Peoples Port within the limitations that exist. What is your beef?

21:2594060enough of all these queens, the main point is that rightly or wrongly vic is saying what most people in dover think.

21:3194061Dear God. Perhaps the PR machine needs to grind into action? Do you really think Vic is voicing the vox populi?

21:3394062The port must stay as it is today any other way is a sell off what ever way you look at it.And if it does go and it all goes wrong,I said this before to,the port could go Bankrupt, and creditors some of them will be locals will say goodbye to their cash.

21:4094063if i knew what a pox vovuli was i would comment, however the vast majority of people think that the new promenade was the result of their council tax.
urban myths are perpetuated by our betters not explaining things clearly.
many people around the country think that schools are run by their local council.

21:4294065No Bern, I don't. Vic is a good friend but he is fast becoming the Screaming Lord Sutch of Dover.

21:5194067Howard, I am the first to say our reps need to communicate better, but a significant part of the misunderstanding is also that people don't listen properly.
Vic, things change, suck it up.
Peter, Screaming Lord Sutch had some rather good ideas!! I loved the policy of making sock manufacturers sell socks in threes to solve the problem of lost pairs. He also proposed that "due to the increasing number of children afraid of needles, I propose the destruction of the tedious, scary and often painful process of school vaccinations.
Instead, I propose that highly trained nurses should be given free reign on the playground with specially modified tranquillizer rifles which apply vaccinations as well as a tranquillizer. This would have two main benefits: It would be less scary for the children as they will not know what hit them, also it will be more fun for the nurses". Check it out!

21:5194068Not so I am looking at the port with my eyes open At this time we have seen most of the banks in the land go Bankrupt no one is buying a house at this time and you are thinking of trying to buy a port with over a£200 million Morgtgage which will have to be paid back with more on top.And I am told I am the mad one.

21:5494069These are different issues, Vic. It is both more complex and more simple than you are implying.
