Gary - my pleasure
I am all for a sensible reasoned discussion around the merits of the different options - we might of course agree to disagree but there is no disgrace with that is there

Ross.
That's absolutely right. Some make it difficult to agree with, some impossible and of course, we don't have, to agree.
Much more can be achieved, simply by being civil.

To add to the confusion (for some), I live in Lydden and I've just voted by post!
Not the DTC poll but a Dover Society poll of members with no geographical limit, it will be interesting to see if this differs from the town poll.

That's funny, Ray. I've got a packet of proxy-votes to hand over in the Town Hall

We recieved our letter from Charlie today,when I say we actually, addresses to my wife and step-daughter,obviously they don't want to include me I am only an elected Councillor!
Perhaps it is to exclude Labour supporters

Do all three of you use the honourable Goodwin moniker? I believe different surnames go out separately.

For an issue this important I'm surprised the voting times are so limited, just 4-9pm. As someone who is working on a late shift, I can't even get to vote. There must be a lot of local residents in that position.

Hope I manage to get away from work early enough to get back to vote

Everyone who I have spoken to about it says they are not going to vote tomorrow!They agree with me that before long, over half the money going about in western banks will be deemed of uncertain origin, with no-one lnowing wheher it belonged to the State of Libya, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, or this that or the other sheik or sultan, and that the government will be unlikely to sell off a port now to an undemocratically elected sheik, or to accept any borrowed money from one;
and even less likely to do so with our Country about to enter every war that springs up all over the Gulf of Persia!

See Front Page. The voting times are laid down by the Local Government Act of 1973. If we had our way we would have normal voting arrangements but it is not possible for a parish poll.

I asked some of our slightly younger customers today if they were going to vote most said YES because they wanted the port to "benefit Dover not foreigners".
I had my postal voting notification for the May elections and referendum today, plus at long last a Dover People's Port leaflet. I wish we could vote on line for the PP one.
