Peter & Bern.
I have no problem with Sir Pat & Algy, or where they live, in fact it's encouraging that they are so willing to help; they have many expertise and contacts between them.
The cagey part is coming from the people who are trying to sell us the Peoples Port. Why are they being so defensive with their answers?

Have you never heard of commercial confidentiality Gary? I actually think they have been very frank with answers about The People's Port concept as an alternative to the DHB plan. Yes some questions are unanswered for good reasons.

Peter. The problem is that answers already given will be ignored if they do not align with the critics's pre-conceived ideas.

The last two posts sums up why people loose the will to continue on this forum

Sorry Gary it was quicker than repeating myself. The facts have not changed and such comments as your last post are not helpful. Both Neil (on the front page) and I have disclosed as much as we can.

It seems pretty well obvious to me that by transferring 200 million pounds of national Treasury deficit onto Dover Port, it would be a disastrous turn for the Port, and an unlikely context either for an 85 million pound renovation at Eastern Docks, or for a T2 at Western Docks, let alone an income for Dover, and even less for Dover and Deal and the whole district together.
That's all Charlie's p/p plan has achieved, to deviate the inital opposition to the DHB plan to two deficit-like plans, and then trying to explain that it wil be either one or the other.
Once the Port were to be used either to repay the costs of a private purchase as in the DHB plan, or the debits as in Charlie's plan, it is clear that profits going to the local area would be very limited, in particular because there are outstanding questiuons that involve huge sums of money: the pension fund, T2. renovations at Eastern Docks...).
To alter the existing DHB charter without incuring in any private take-over or in any debt scheme would leave the Port with much more profits to divide between Port and Town - and also District.

Alexander the last thing we want to do is put the profits in the hands of the politicians.

I think it is true that people see and hear what they want to see and hear. Sadly.

Peter, you have not freely given answers, they have had to be gleemed out of your sarcastic and aloof responces.
Alexander, you are right and this is the campaign we should be fighting.

I don't think I have been sarcastic and/or aloof on this thread or, indeed, on other threads on the same subject. I have tried to play as straight a bat as possible.

Peter has given brief but succinct responses, and they became brief and succinct, I am guessing, as the result of the hectoring and obtuse tone adopted by some - I am not referring to Gary, who has asked pertinent questions.

i think that gary is trying to get across the point that if anyone dares challenge the financing of the peoples port thingy they get patronised and told that the whole idea goes over their head and/or they are not clever enough to understand.
i am with with him on that, interestingly enough the brain behind it(neil wiggins) does not take that attitude but tries to get his case across without being condescending.

Howard - the financing has been explained extremely well and very simply.
Sadly certain people, despite that, keep repeating what can only be described as complete rubbish ignoring the explanations and because of that, quite frankly, you get to the stage where you only want to treat them with distain. They are getting the responses they deserve.
I think that reply probably does not help, BarryW. There are some fears about the Port Plans, but I thought Peter had answred the questions that he could, clearly and courteously, but he attracted Vics hectoring and it all went a bit titsup from there.

Many people, both forumites and others, have wandered into Blakes and we have had a chat about the port. That is open to anyone who happens to be strolling along Castle St when we are open. Very hard to get your passion across on a forum.
