Paul If it means a councillor or two taking some credit sorts the issue out, why not?
We all know it will have been a combination of people that would have secured it.
Including volunteers/councillors/other interested people
No different to when the high speed train was secured(whether you wanted it or not)
A particular Cllr in Castle ward was taking al the credit
yet it took a lot of different bodies/people to achieve this.
but that's life,,,,

Whilst some people will take the credit and tell those who they think care just how wonderful they are, the volunteers and other interested people will just quietly congratulate each other and carry on as before. It's called showing a bit of class

As a very active volunteer in my own area I understand where your coming from Paul M
But really all volunteers as iv said before today should be congratulated for all the tireless unpaid effort they put in
often in very busy life challenges

I would describe self congratulation as the polar opposite of class.

Two of the public comments so far are uncannily similar almost as if a template has been created. Will keep an eye on this when more people post after the holiday.

The first 5 comments on the planning application were all in favour including one from legendary councillor Mr Keef Sansum, the following 5 fully support the need for a soup kitchen as long as it nowhere near where they live.

With all due respect Keith you don't live in Adrian Street with all the problems they have experienced in the past.

What you stated in your post as that I supported the soup kitchen(yes I do) and I only support it as its not in my back yard that part is incorrect.
of course the volunteers are fighting an uphill battle to find a suitable site for themselves to be safe, also to provide the free service as well as satisfy as many locals s possible

Just curious, how do those who run the soup kitchen know that those receiving the food actually need and deserve the generous help they are given?

Completely different set up to the food bank, anyone can turn up at a soup kitchen, some people even arrived by car at our one when it was in Pencester Gardens. Years ago I used to volunteer at one just one day a week and two brothers in their 50s never missed a meal yet they had been left a 4 bedroom house and were taking money off lodgers.

I cant think of a way of achieving your aims.
All I can say is i have met many of those that visit, and I can tell you they do need the service

Keith I was just curious and had no "aims".
I am sure the vast majority are in need or they would not be there but like the food bank this service could be open to abuse, after all the world is full of opportunists only to keen to get something for nothing.

The planning application now has the support of four clergy persons but our Forum holy man is not amongst them.

There seems to be a template being used by those supporting Adrian Street as a temporary location. One recurring phrase is the proximity of the town centre and Port. However good the cuisine is I find it doubtful that many would cross the channel to sample it.

It does look like there will be opposition to the site, but its the problem that does need an early result
