My friend has just told me the soup kitchen was operating from Stembrook car park this evening

#140 ... Yes, actually, from the above post, I thought a place had been found for the Portacabin.
It was a harmless question, but shot down by the usual blinkered foes.
I have empathy with this forum's problems of getting a sensible, informed thread going.
With dementia publicans forever, shooting any opinion or question down.

It takes us "dementia publicans" to recognise others suffering from the same problem but at least we try to be polite with our replies or queries.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

#142. Had no idea you were or had been a publican - Jan Higgins how on earth could I know.
Really, there is nothing personal about this. If you re-read my postings on this, you will surely see I have been as polite as possible with my queries.
As I have a lot to do with the homeless, and soup kitchen advice, I just wanted to make sure I was up to date. Sue N said it was operating in Stanhope Car Park, which was not known to many of us.
Thank you very much and I wish you well.

Capt Haddock must have been racing down to Stanhope Rd car park in Deal to view the newly re-located soup kitchen in his ward.

Am I the only one that finds this decision, to provide this service in the same location of recorded drug dealing (and consequential deaths) and anti social behaviour by drunks, bizarre.

Well, it does have pre-installed security cameras. Not that they were any use when I was assaulted while passing through there one night about a decade ago mind.

Hopefully volunteer leaders/council and interested parties can work towards a solution

Thanks, so it is potentially for volunteer safety with the CCTV in place.
Hopefully they will ensure they are recording as no one will be monitoring at that time in the evening..

Interesting article in today's Dover Mercury There are always two sides to a story.I knew that the soup kitchen could have operated before Christmas in the warm at least they would not have had to serve from the boots .of cars. The other interesting factor is the soup kitchen were given months yo find a new home.i fully support the volunteers but seems some were in the dark re the full facts.

I read somewhere that Roger Walton of DDC lodged the latest planning application but surely this should have been done by the volunteers.

I'm sure there will be a Councillor or two ready to take all the credit once the issue has been resolved.
