For once I agree with other SJW forumites.
It's awfully important for someone to spend both time and other peoples money providing this important service as long as it's somewhere not near my house and ideally where I can't see it.

Thanks Howard.Cllr Walker good at getting his point over.Let us hope he will ask a good supplementary questionThis is a good way forward. The press just make up a story to sell papers. Its the Council you have to get too.
I will always praise a Councillor regardless of politics .I like workers not people who like photo opportunities. When I left all parties were very.good at their applause for me.Lots of hugs .

Sue
I'm unsure as to where you are on this, you indicated in an earlier post a building had been found? where? certainly I'm in contact with a number of volunteers from the soup kitchen and will lobby DDC but please update sue.
Also if its Cllr N Collor you refer as opposing the soup kitchen, I'm all for publicly naming and shaming

Stagnant wages at best until 2021. We're gonna need a bigger soup kitchen.

Yes Cllr Collor was against the use of Pencester and Maison Dieu car parks.I was under the impression talks were ongoing with the Catholic Church I gather also C ouncillors were against the use of car parks.I only hope when they sit enjoying their Christmas lunch they will spare a thought for the homeless.
I know many of the volunteers who turn out on a regular basis to feed these homeless people.
One excuse given by a Councillor it gives a poor image got Dover .Load of !,,!,,It's terrible that we are not doing more to help these people.Somethings cannot be swept under the carpet.
I trust the Council will listen to Cllr Walker and the current Chairman will show compassion and give leaway.

Most visitors walk from Market Square through to the Town centre and would see bedding in disused shop doorways whilst most of them would not venture near Pencester Rd and Maison Dieu Rd car parks.. You did well to dump him Sue.

If you could spare the time to read the description of the above Petition.
It is interesting to note the Soup Kitchen was started in 1991.

It would be positive to think we have improved our Society during this time.
Apparently not.

Very surprised by Cllr Collor,s stance regarding the soup kitchen which is a lifeline for the homeless or those unfortunate enough to have fallen on hard times.A terrible shame,i hope they find a new location for it.Circumstances can change for anyone at anytime, take nothing for granted, anyone of us could find ourselves needing the soup kitchen one day, could be me or you or even him.

I know the lady who started up the soup kitchen and it's only a few years since she ceased helping.

If the opinion of a couple of Cllrs can affect so many in relation to their welfare, they should stand up and come forward to answer some questions. Are they indeed speaking on their own behalf or are they representing their ward? If so, it's clearly more than 2 objections. If not, what persuades representatives of the electorate to take it upon themselves to voice their personal opinion?

I meant to add that any society which has to rely on the likes of soup kitchens, food banks etc is in effect a failing society.

Under these criteria I merely wonder if there is ANY society on the entire planet which is not 'failing'?

Not as straight forward as it seemed, my understanding was that two people living close by were the only complainants but DDC are saying there were many others and complaints had risen significantally.
