All is not as it seems, the soup kitchen volunteers have been offered two sites a)The closed Buckland Bridge toilets which rather ironically Nigel Collor took all the flak for when it was closed and b) the Albany car park both of which have been turned down.

They were offered Buckland Bridge site last time round but it's too far out of town. They then got the present location.Every time I see the cabin in Pencester I cannot understand why they should go from there.I have heard re the complaints.DDC should have put a portaloo. somewhere. Nearby.I understand the volunteers were able to deal with any problems. Why were the Police not nearby hardly far from Police station
Howard you have had your ears bent.By the way the Councillor who will respond to ,the question does not in Dover.Interested to know if he has observed the behaviour.

Buckland Bridge site is indoors of course Sue and many arrive by car anyway but Albany car park is close enough to the town centre surely?
Cllr Nick Kenton runs a farm out in the sticks, hopefully he has visited the current location to form a balanced view.

And yet we give ourselves a higher median income than workers in Germany who actually have (along with France) higher productivity!

How much longer can we go on expecting to be paid more money than we have earned and relying our children to take on our debt?
Frankly most of us are living well beyond our means and I for one would welcome some real austerity rather than austerity-lite which we are supposedly 'suffering' under.
(Though I note that with my Old age Pension starting in December I shall be 'taking home' more than someone on the UK median wage after tax for doing absolutely nothing! #imAllrightJack)

Albany Place I would have expected to be consulted as Chairman Of Municipal Charities.More houses over looking this site ,and elderly residents .Maison Dieu is the one .Buckland Bridge is too far out.
Of course we must not upset those in the Paddock .Im sure their living accommodation looks over the Paddock .Some of River WI members who live near Masion Dieu and Pencester.
were very supportive of the Soup Kitchen..My former colleagues could have emailed me .Communication is the word.

The online petition is rather pointless now and we know what answer will be given at Full Council.

Anna you'll find Sweden has about 3 times the level of homelessness as England, so not such a great example!

I am mystified by the agenda of those who run the soup kitchen, surely any site within the town is better than closure even if it is not perfect or bang in the middle of town.
As a temporary measure could they not use a tiny bit of the St James site that will be the last to be developed.

I know they had to move from there but I can see no logical reason a tiny temporary space could not be found for them now IF there was the will.
To me there is more to the whole saga than meets the facts that I have read here and elsewhere, turning down sites is just daft those in genuine need could easily walk to Buckland Bridge it is not that far from Pencester.

Quite, as usual emotion and agendas get in the way of progress. If I was starving I'd be very happy to walk from Pencester to Buckland Bridge, every day on the news I see desperate people crossing continents.
