Thanks Simon, that provides me with an answer.Like me you know the effort that some people from River have put in over the years.Maybe a way will be found.Louise was very upset that the kitchen had no where .to go.Her whole working life has been involved working in the community.
Long time since those school plays.
Roberts little girl had just started at River school.

Nothing wrong with being a non-christian Brian. Just because we've grown out of believing in Santa Claus, unicorns and other fairy tales, and do not find it necessary to have an imaginary friend doesn't make us second class citizens, nor does it make us less caring or concerned. It just means we do things because we want to, not because 'god' tells us to.

If land owners are unwilling to help maybe a corner of Pencester Gardens could be used?

Pencester Gardens...so good they messaged twice.

Just because you don't take an interest in politics doesn't mean that politics won't take an interest in you. PERICLES.

It seems incredible - with all the space with Dover - the huge amounts of Car Parks, Waste Land, Massive Sea-front , Churches with space all around them.
A spot for a Soup Kitchen cannot be found.

My understanding is DDC will not allow them in their car parks.I find that appalling just because a few residents complained loudly .

Playing devil's advocate, it might mean loss of much needed DDC revenue if they use car parks.
If they can have fairs and other events why not make use of a corner of Pencester Gardens, although that church mentioned earlier would seem to have been the ideal spot by keeping the continuity of care.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

I would have thought that the churches of Dover could have got together to help re-site the soup kitchen, even the ex archbishop of somewhere doesn't seem interested, no national news rags involved. Get the BBC news team down, see how quick they find a space then. Either that or re-designate all UK homeless as pre teen Syrian refugees.

Doesn't the baptist church have its own car park?

The Bishop of Dover should have a high profile on this - he is always about when there is a Do.!!
Not many Towns have their own Bishop, ha ha.

Having spoken with volunteers of this vital facility we must find a place.
It's incredible that DDC is turning it's back on such a vital service
I'm going to continue to lobby
Where's the planning committee councillors to call it in to discuss?

Keith Sansum1 ..........You need to chase this urgently, together with anyone who has enough clout to get something done.
It seems, as usual, that the people on the ground, who have been dealing with this service, volunteers and all. Cannot get their voices and concerns listened to.
Vital service, the lack of which could, and will, lead to more crime and desperation.
Thank you.

Keith Myself and Peter Wallace have been working hard to get this problem resolved.I have contacted Cllr Watkins, and senior Officers of the council.DDC will not allow them to relocate it too what is an obvious alternative Maison Dieu. car Park. You have toilets nearby ,close to the Police Station and near DDC control room, and best of all away from nearby properties.
The ward Councillor is against this and funnily enough he is the traffic guru at DDC.
I suggested the Soup Kitchen send a ,representative to speak at Full Councill this was not taken up.
My understanding is that an alternative property had been found..
I fail to understand how complaints from two residents had to excuse the pun made them homeless.
This should not happen at this time of year.I have sent strongly worded emails to certain people however as I'm no longer a Councillor it is not so easy .No help from two cabinet members who should be working their socks off to assist.
I supported the move to Pencester.
