I know the death figures are important as a scare tactic but surely those who recover from hospitalised cases of Covid are a far more important factor.
The media just love promoting doom and gloom as opposed to a hopefully more positive outlook for all of us whichever the subject is in the headlines at any given time.

I watched Casuality tonight.I think all those who flaunt the rules should watch it.I try to contact my Granddaughter most days and send a x as she is working flat out in Critical Care .Why do people keep shopping all the time and drive miles unnecessarily ..

It seems to me the active Forum is made up mainly of retirees (myself included) who should be in the first groupings to be vaccinated. Trying to find out what will happen in Dover/Deal CCG area is being met with silence. Have we any informed members who know whether our GP’s are going to be involved & have been contacted?

Interesting that Folkestone is in the same CCG admin patch & has progress. Wonder whether we are talking about money to provide the service? GP’s are powerful negotiators.

For anyone who subscribes to the Times online, following the above article there is an interactive tool which allows you to put in your postcode, age and level of vulnerability, whether or not your a key worker, living in a care home etc. It then provides information about where you are in the queue in your district for a vaccination and how many are ahead of you. I’m potentially in position 19,500!

I’m just behind you Arthur. Of course that’s when they start vaccinating! Seems a good guide.

This site gives approximate dates for receiving the vaccine.
https://www.omnicalculator.com/health/vaccine-queue-uk#vulnerable
How accurate it is I do not know as the dates given to me today are completely different to those I originally saw, now March plus as opposed to end of January plus the other day.

I may have a bit of a wait!
Based on your profile, there are between 23,842,145 and 27,132,105 people in front of you in the queue for a COVID vaccine across the UK.
Given a vaccination rate of 1,000,000 a week and an uptake of 70.6%, you should expect to receive your two doses of vaccine and be fully protected by between 03/12/2021 and 18/01/2022

That can't be right, Karl. Matt Hancock said restrictions would recede into the past by spring.

My understanding is that Dover/Deal CCG have declined to provide vaccination services which is within their right. I have several retired friends in Sussex who had their first jab several weeks ago but I think it will be months until we start seeing vaccinations here.

I think the reality is emerging that this cannot be done within existing NHS infrastructure. It needs a monumental national effort with the military involved - certainly if govt wants to get everyone done within a short(ish) time frame. I can quite see vaccination centers set up in village halls, schools and the like.

Checking the link above there are no hospitals or GP surgeries listed in the Dover/Deal area.
