Oh dear. How is this happening IN LOCKDOWN? Soaring rates.
What does it say about the District?

Because far to many are choosing to ignore the rules. During the first lockdown I hardly saw any people or cars in my road but now it is virtually the same as before this awful virus struck, the main difference being a few people are wearing masks.

I have been saying this for some time Jan
I risk my life everyday whilst others worry about civil liberties , all well and good but rather than masks these face shields , although not as effective can be used .
All the time we are in denial the virus will get worse and go on .

You're fond of your accusations, but you never back them up. Either you have no arguments, or you can't formulate them coherently enough to show us. Consider your own position: the government tells you 'lockdowns' work (whatever that means), but provides no evidence; you 'choose to' believe it regardless. Who, then, is 'in denial'?

Playing Devil's Advocate with this comment. Where is the absolute scientific proof for the views put forward by WGS rather than simple dislike of this Tory government's rules, which at times can seem disjointed.
From what I read on this group I get the impression WGS is a non mask wearer and chooses to behave just as if we were not in this virus strewn world. I hate wearing the mask as I find it claustrophobic and hard to breathe and wear one only in enclosed areas or where there are people very near me.

The jury’s out on this one Jan but:
* A person who listens to advice, considers whether it fits their priorities, and chooses to follow it or not depending.... Wise
* A person who may listen to advice, but rarely follows it. ....Independent
* A person who never listens to advice, even from a person with greater relevant experience or knowledge.....Fool

Regardless of our opinions, Dover District is now n the top ten worst areas in the country. Fact. Whereas our football flounders, Dover soars up the virus league table. Let's hope the local outbreak has peaked - otherwise, we could suffer the national notoriety already endured by Liverpool, Hull and Swale, while everyone rolls their eyes and says "Doover!".

Ta for the analysis, JH. Been paying high rates to a Freudian for years, but I'll come to you for free head-sorting from now on.
btw, for the umpteenth time:
the burden of proof is on whoever makes the claim. The government or anybody supporting the policy of 'lockdowns' has yet to provide a shred of evidence of their efficacy. Feel free to do so if you're up to it.
But it's clear they have catastrophic negative effects, though, on the economy, businesses, jobs, non-covid health and [whispers] the culture and freedoms that make England what it is.
btw+, I see KS has dodged the accusation issue, yet again. I'm beginning to think that the statement 'ALL POSTS ARE MY OWN PERSONAL VIEWS' is an ambition rather than an actuality.

Since some people seem to be fixated with testing and league tables (not I), Dover had 3 MSOAs (local areas with roughly similar population numbers) in the top 200 (by highest number of COVID-19 positives per 100k population) in England for the 7 days ending 25 November. They were: Walmer (9th), Ash & Wingham (60th), and Mill Hill, Upper Deal & Northbourne (197th).
I believe, as of yesterday, Walmer is up to 7th, but there were no other Dover MSOAs in the top 100.

A significant problem for the government here is that the same protagonists who have spent the last three years pleading with us not to listen to experts, now find themselves in government and pleading with us to listen to experts. Gove the chief offender.
Personally speaking, I have worked with Chris Whitty and have absolute confidence in what he says. The debate will soon move from mask wearing to vaccine taking, I wonder if things become more measured at that point....

One for your diaries 10/02?
Vaccination
Professor Chris Whitty
Vaccination has transformed the outlook for many previously lethal infectious diseases. It has, however, caused controversy since its beginnings, even when used for widely feared diseases such as smallpox. For many infectious diseases we do not have a vaccine, and may never get one.
Vaccination is increasingly being considered for cancers, including ones with no infectious trigger.
This lecture will consider several aspects of the science and public debate about vaccines.
Given Covid-19, we are live-streaming all our lectures online in 2020-21 and aim to re-introduce in-person lectures gradually as social distancing rules change.

A very interesting debate going on here, however, I have friends who have had COVID, my family have had scares and I have a good friend who is a specialist nurse trying to save lives of those infected, so I will wear my mask, clean my hands, and socially distance, no one will persuade me otherwise.
However, I believe in freedom of choice, so we can all decide what path to take, just please don't walk near me or my family if you decide otherwise
