Careful, it'll be freedom of thought, freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, and freedom of worship next. You're just one step from heresy.

As you say freedoms are ok
But we have a killer virus out there
My family and friends don't wish to die because of someone's freedom of choices

Which was why I said "so we can all decide what path to take, just please don't walk near me or my family if you decide otherwise".

Except, we cannot. We had freedoms, but gave them up for 'safety'. We now have government permissions. If that doesn't worry you, then there'll be plenty of time to mug up on C20th history.

We still have freedom, because if we didn't, people wouldn't be able to shop in Morrisons without a mask, people wouldn't be able to ignore social distancing when meeting on the seafront, people would be forced to obey the law like in some other countries, and ironically, Dover (and the UK) might have got rid of this pandemic sooner if we had no freedom (ooh, that last point is a separate debate all on its own!).
I have freedom of choice and I have chosen to follow the medical advice of people more qualified than any of us, but equally I could have chosen to ignore that advice and put my loved ones and community at risk.
Can't get much more freedom than that!
I'll go and read up on 20th century history now, in case I missed something when I was living in those times

You're wasting your time. On this forum you will find greater wisdom and intelligence than all the epidemiologists and virologists in the world can muster collectively. Oh and a fair smattering of pseudo philosophy too.

Athough I've watched this forum for a while, I'm starting to see that first hand

armchair virologists or philosophers are fine with me, as long as they are adhering to COVID safe practices when posting

"We're not all bad down here" - as if there was any questin that we might have been. Good riposte to a "Hillsborough - The Truth" style attack on Dover.

Where are you Brian, in the meter cupboard under the stairs or on the front porch?

That's fair enough, I don't mind, but without freedom of choice, one of us would be forced to agree with the other.

Suggest you all look up the definition of 'freedom', then the definition of 'permission'. Then feel free to continue ignoring the difference.
Oh yes, given that you all appear to support the principle that not having a formal qualification in a subject (e.g. virology, epidemiology) disqualifies you from bringing your critical faculties to bear on it, do feel free not to comment on any other subject you're not qualified to talk about.

Luckily we do not have to have a formal qualification to have an opinion on any subject.
My opinion is the government have made a complete pig's ear of the whole virus situation going right back to the beginning which is why we are now in tier three with cases in this area apparently still rising.

But are you qualified to make such a claim, JH?

Dover District reported 371 per 100,000 yesterday.
Let's hope the Christmas break gives Dover a reprieve that we so desperately need.

Let's hope so, but it could have the opposite effect.

Is this real 'armchair virology' or merely the 'pseudo' version? Does AP's desire or APS's conditional cut it? Perhaps a dawn 'It's an armchair epidemiological knockout' should decide...
