Every time I see my medic neighbours go to or arrive home from work I have mixed feelings, I worry they will catch the virus but am so grateful they are still there to carry on treating the victims.

I'm of an age that means I will probably get my vaccine in 2022 if I'm lucky, but it is quite a logistical nightmare, but that doesn't help those of you hoping to be eligible soon.
The parents of my work colleague have different surgeries (not in Dover) and are both in their eighties. His mum is having her second jab next week and her husband hasn't heard anything at all, and he's older!

I suppose we ought to be grateful we don’t live in France- apparently the President wants to wait for a French developed/ manufactured vaccine to be available!

Not to mention the fact that he is also a US citizen whose toxic 'news' channel has been spewing forth side effect scare stories for the last few months. But then again he
is a good pal of Gove and Johnson.

Think he's American now, health tourist seriously?
So we pick and choose who gets the vaccine based on the amount of tax they pay?

The NHS works on the basis of residency. If you are resident, then you receive healthcare free at the point of need. Your tax record, or your passport, are not relevant. The UK does have a bilateral health agreement with Australia, which is based on immediately necessary care while on a temporary visit from one country to the other. If he's had this done privately, that is whole new line of questioning!

Ii is reported that he holds both US and Australian citizenship and is, in fact, enjoying non-dom status in the UK during the pandemic.
Of course we have to prioritise vaccination. And it will be a hot topic all the while demand exceeds supply and the virus continues to rage out of control.
Whether this should entail the special extension of a centre's opening hours and concerted efforts to avoid subsequent publicity for a billionaire non-dom known to hold vast political influence is very much open to question. To pretend he's just another patient 89 year old is just plain silly really.

So not his tax return, but his political persuasion would have him left at risk.
Certainly says a lot about you!

I note that my local kitchenware shop now has a small display of nails and tools in their window while a local florist has a box of apples and bananas, presumably so one is a builder's merchant and the other a food shop and can remain open.

Is the kitchenware shop within easy walking distance of a hardware shop or the florist near a greengrocer? If not good luck to them, this might be the only way they will raise enough money to pay rent etc and survive.

Both 'on' Deal High Street.
Good luck to them? For going against the spirit of the law if not the letter? I wonder what 'essential supplies' the vape shop will start selling?

How was I to know they were on Deal High Street
, therefore no excuse for them. If they had been on a side street I would feel safer going to them rather than the High Street or a supermarket who can sell whatever they like.

Allegedly, I've seen in the media that Morrisons will start enforcing mask wearing in their stores?
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-55618408
Only two problems with that, 1) Their staff will have to remember it isn't a chin warmer and 2) Good luck to the person who tells the people they are not coming in because about 90% of the people I see shopping without a mask look like they will punch the first person who challenges them!

It isn't "allegedly" anymore, I've just heard Mr Hancock mention it on this evening's COVID briefing!

Citing the Equality Act 2010 should be enough to see off a challenge; no punch required.

Those more inclined to the punch would turn and run at the the first word of that sentence.

Good to see on our local BBC News this morning our infection figures are down, I wonder if that is because not so many are rushing to be tested.

Anyone know of any person in Dover to be sent a vaccination letter yet? I heard today that some people in Folkestone have been given slots at Dover next week as they still haven't got their site up and running yet.
