At one time it was an all red town council the blues did not put up candidates on the principle that politics shouldn't come into it.
We then had independent candidates getting on there then eventually the blues joined in and had two elected.
Things seem to be going full circle as by my calculation the reds and blues have put 6 apiece up of which 2 from each party are already in without the need for a vote.

No Conservative carpetbagger in River Howard. Nick Dixon is vice chairman of the parish council, temporarily living in Sholden until his house is completed & moving back into the area. He has pedigree & is well respected. Sue will confirm.

A lot of the old guard at Town have retired or simply not stood this time around, off the top of my head Jan Tranter, The Smiths,
Pat Sherratt, Sheila Amos and at the parishes Ray at Lydden and Vic at the other 25.
In my ward we will have two red and two blue councillors to lord it over allotments.

I was surprised to read that there are just four candidates announced for Maxton, Elmsvale and Priory and four vacancies, so it looks like Deborah and myself are Town Councillors.
Hope we will be able/allowed to make a real difference.

My ward is going to be interesting. It shows you should never take any notice of rumours as Pam Brivio is not standing down as I was led to believe.

What difference can you and your 3 colleagues make Roger, as things stand the Town council is only responsible for allotments, in the future maybe toilets and other very minor things that politicians needn't be involved with?

Yes Pam Brivio is standing for Labour again in my ward for DDC and DTC so is Ronnie Philpott who was also rumoured to be packing it in.

Although DTC may only have allotments as their statutory responsibility (and Mayoral duties), I will want to support/suggest and move forward, action that will actually help improve Dover, something I'm sure every residents wants.
Dover Town Council, should be a Council that the residents here are proud of, at present, it isn't; many posts on here grumble about it and some have said it should be done away with, let's see what we, as Conservatives can do, we've done very well at DDC, let's replicate that at DTC.

Well I have just been looking at DTC for my ward and only two standing for possible 4 vacancies so they are safe and makes it pointless voting, although I will still cast it. Same with St rad's ward only 1 standing against three vacancies. Or am I missing something here as there seems to be a lacking of people wanting to stand by the looks of it, maybe I should of stood but alas study/work/family. As it also producing a lack of choice or any sort of pressure to make prospective councillors promote themselves and give people an idea of what they plan or are going to try to do.
At least you have put the first bit of promotion across Roger although some meat on the bones would be nice.
Whereas the district nominations is a three party race for all three seats in my ward (3 of each for 3 seats). Surely you can give us some info from the conservative intentions or get the prospective councillors to put a statement here of what they intend

would be even nicer if there was involvement from the other parties and prospective councillors. Certainly want to hear more of a personal not national party propaganda as is local and local matters.

The town council candidates won't be on your ballot paper Darren as the ward is uncontested, the same applies where I am.

bit annoying, so do they get extra councillors from elsewhere or do the seats remain empty?

as a note, it is annoying as with no voting for the person it seems to me they are unelected per se as no votes cast for them.

They may (not must) go through the process of co-opting additional members.
