Re post179. I was asked by Denise Smith of Dover Greeters to speak to the Americans who were in the town from the cruise ship. Good opportunity to welcome them to our lovely town and they spoke well of the welcome by the Greeters. It was not planned and I was literally there a few minutes; i was due in the council chamber for an event at 11.00 which was a presentation and awards ceremony by youngsters who had been on the very worthwhile course with Prince's Trust. Event had been In the diary for three months.
Not going to get into another argument over the flagpole; just to say took advice from DDC and were limited on locations it could go. Never going to please everyone.

I for one am sick of reading post after post of people constantly trying to justify there actions on topics unrelated to the thread subject. People get over yourselves, everyone keeps going on about putting dover and it's people first, if thats true great but shut up about it and get on with it!!!
Stop hijacking peoples threads!

Couldn't vote in the Town Council elections as there was no ballot paper received by not only Karen and me but by friends in the Buckland ward.

Several wards were uncontested Ken.

Update from Facebook is that Pam Brivio topped the poll, Ronnie Philpott and the lone blue candidate came third. Not had official confirmation.

By my estimation there are 6 Reds, 4 Blues and 4 Independent councillors.
Can they work together leaving aside party loyalties?
From what I have read I don't think so, would love to be proved wrong.

Buckland was uncontested. I must say there looks to be a sore looser in the hamlets and glad reading her comment on Dover Mercury. For someone who wanted to be a councillor would people have wanted someone speaking for them like that?

What did she say, I with many others that see through her get blocked from reading her comments?

Just to add there was no 'allegedly' before she edited it.

That is so typical and she wonders why she gets rejected by the voters, hopefully for the last time.
Finishing behind a green candidate sums it up.
She regularly Edits her posts when she knows She has gone too far and deletes others.

yes did notice that, the greens beat someone lol
One thing to notice is that precious actually liked the comment she made which I find pretty bad, glad he isn't my councillor. All them moaning about the DTC and yet this is what they spout, so how can they be better?

Darren's post #191 certainly shows that some are as bad as those they complain about, unfortunately that is the kind of response one has to expect from Augusta.
What Facebook site was this taken from? I do not follow many on there.

Whilst Labour are the largest party on the DTC - the council is now No Overall Control as there are 6 Labour, 4 Conservative & 4 Independents.
hopefully this will mean a more co-operative council as no one party can force something through

With the kind of budget DTC have, I'm not sure there is much to force through anyway.

What happens now? 4 spaces still to be taken up on the Town council. I don't know what the system is for co-opting.
