just looking at the District council elections, and the candidates looks like my predictions will come true.
few surprizes though;
like,,,,,,,,,,
EVERY PARTY BEEN IN, Bob frost, who's latest party is the tories, he's been
liub dem, labour, now tory(is he trying to beat our vic and ken as to how many parties he can be in?
Dover alliance standing candidates in district election, strongly opposed such a move on this very forrum in the past, why the change of heart?
or are they hoping no one notices?
anyone watching the shepherdswell seat i think thats to be an interesting one
im sure the other parties will highlight
but you only have to look at eythorne parish council web site to look at reasons
why NOT to vote for the peter walker candidate(see industrial tribe)interesting reading

so now to the dover town elections
not to many surprizes but again we do see a few like;
local conservatives again fighting town council seats something our barryw doesnt agree with and was local tory policy
like the indies they hope it will go un noticed
looks like the stronghold of labour wont be broken and likely to increase its majority(my prediction)
good luvk to you all anyway whatever party your standing for

just had a brief glance, see that graham wanstall is standing as an independent in castle, could mix things up a bit.
maxton, elms vale and priory have 4 carpet baggers out of 6 candidates and buckland seems to have 1 candidate for every 4 voters.

Yes I might have done better by going back to my old town ward seat at Priory but time will tell on that one.

a couple of things here.
a) the listing at d.d.c. does not say how many seats are up for grabs in each ward, i suspect that in some parishes all the names will get in unopposed.
b) quite surprising how many of our members, past and present are standing.

Howard,
a) the list is here in the notice of elections -
http://www.dover.gov.uk/pdf/Parish%20Notice%20of%20Election.pdf
b) not surprising really, they've shown an interest in the local community by being on here and so are the sorts who would stand

thanks for that ray, means i already know who my town councillors will be, saves me having to worry who to vote for.
notice that one lives out at martin, hardly the north face of the folkestone road.
this leaves me the stress of selecting 3 from the 6 good and true persons who are standing at district level and the headscratcher of whether i want the alternative voting system.

I understand Vic has got in unopposed In four parishes .So he will be a councillor four times over .
How he will fit River and Lydden in I question as they meet on the same day .Temple Ewell is a different Tuesday .
I gather will have to wait for the good people of Alkham to decide ,.
Makes you wonder .
Things arnt what they used to be .

You know what? This has gone beyond a joke now. If Matcham gets into any seat because of no opposition then I dispair for the future of our town, because he is just playing at politics to feed his hugely overactive ego.
We have prospective councillors standing for all parties who have the committment to do their job well and to serve Dover as it should be served. I know he is entitled to stand - Keith will remind me of that, but I seriously think this man could be dangerous for any ward he got elected into by default.
Please let's not let him in - retire and enjoy your wife and children before it's too late.
There's always a little truth behind every "Just kidding", a little emotion behind every "I don't care" and a little pain behind every "I'm ok".

Too late, Jacqui. He's already going to be on four parish councils after the elections, including my own
