If Maxton, Elmsvale and Priory changes over, then it will be 2 conservatives and one Labour; it is currently one Conservative (me) and two Labour. I'll be happy with 2 Conservatives up here, but could do so much more with 3.

In your dreams Roger,I like you but you must know that your seat is a Labour target,as it appears my seat is for the Tories because the front bench Cllr Ian Ward is standing against us,I am sure he told me he wasnt standing.
Seems strange a Tory from St Margarets standing in Tower Hamlets!
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

seems like roger is thinking more of party politics than what is good for the ward(especially the priory part).
what is needed is simply 3 good people that are hands on, know the area well and actually care.
party labels are irrelevant in the real world of priory.

I am not going down Keith's line of predictions but I think the Council result will be close with 1 or the other party having a 2 -4 seat majority a lot might depend on who fast the Libs collapse and wether they lose Whitfield.

whitfield will be safe for the yellows in my view, i don't see their national unpopularity undoing them there.
mr meredith could stand for whoever he likes and enough people would vote for him.
having spoken in the past to people from whitfield he seems to be active in everything in the community and represents the people more than his party.
would there be more local councillors like that instead of party hacks.

You are right abou Clive Meredith a hard working Cllr, but the national trend may effect him that of course still leaves 1 seat.which could make all the difference.

If I have been in doubt about who to vote for in past local elections I always go for the person who lives in the area. Those who live outside are politicians and nine times out of ten just want the so-called glory.

Priory is the area where I live.
I know all the places from Prosperity Market to Desolation Spot.
And a special place over Western Heights.

I live on the Folkestone Road, you could say I'm in the heart of my community; every problem that has been brought to my attention, I work on it. I also work closely with the PCSO, to find out what I can.
If living in the ward is the main criteria for the electors, then Labour will have no chance - Tower Hamlets and St. Radigunds residents will be representing the Maxton, Elmsvale and Priory Ward.
Maybe the "cardboard cut-out" with a red rosette will win the day, but it won't do the residents any good.

I can't see the people of the Priory, Maxton and Elmsvale voting for candidates from Tower Hamlets and Saint Radigunds.
What do they know about our area?

roger
were you a cardboard cut out with a blue rosette when you got elected?

Maybe I should clarify my living in the area comment, I meant someone who lives in in or fairly near the ward they are standing for.
My comment was sparked by John's "Seems strange a Tory from St Margarets standing in Tower Hamlets!". How on earth can that person know what that area is really like and it's needs, of cause they might work there.

Let me be the only one to clarify and predict
priory maxton and elms vale is likely to change to 3 labour but lets see
whitfield clive meridith will prob win for the lib dems it's the other seat(peter monks)that will be up for grabs, peter is not so popular and more unknown
so vic standing there could affect the overall result.
middled de(3 seats) may return 3 labour
shephersdswell may rfeturn one labour and an indy our very own poster reg hansell
so as vic says watch this space
and vic should be in space lol

VIC
Although i know the seats you are standing in i promise not to spill the beans
that said i think you will do well but not enough to get the seat you require
you will be a spoiler for other parties.
whilst you will probably claim victory from that, theres only so long you go not winning seats before people see through you, and standing in 7 seats gives the wrong impression

Keith I totally agree with you on this. Leaving politics out of it for a moment, by standing for so many seats he is not showing that he cares enough for any one area to commit to it. Even if I didn't know anything about him I wouldn't vote for him because he is doing this for all the wrong reasons, primarilly to promote himself. I haven't decided who I will vote for but it certainly won't be him. Sorry Vic but you have shot yourself in the foot now, no-one takes you seriously. Maybe you should have taken Keiths (and many others) advice to retire gracefully.
There's always a little truth behind every "Just kidding", a little emotion behind every "I don't care" and a little pain behind every "I'm ok".

Jacqui, I care agreat deal about the town and the District, and at my age why would I have any need to promote myself?,you will find out over the next two weeks or so, why I have done it and you might just see me in different light,I hope so anyway.Thank you for your post. But some times we have to think outside the box.

JACQUI
I'm sure vic welcomes the free publicity, you are correct on the 7 seats and i have to say i don't understand the logic of vic standing for 7 seats.
Having questioned him on it, he said he was trying to make a point????? to get new faces??? neither one is likely to be proved.
it might well get more candidates, but theres no guarentee vic will benefit from that
the opposite more likely, as vic says more candidates are being found in one of the seats to stop vic getting in.
Then JACQUI we have the issue of health, viic clearly doesn't have the best of health and although he has passion his health should come first and his family.
but i suppose it's not right to go after one candidate, all i can do is advise vic one to one, it's up to vic on his actions
