An email from UKIP the other day informed me there are 8 Tory MPs who have expressed the possibility of going over to UKIP, and that their names have been disclosed only unto Nigel Farage.

The latest Observer Opinium poll puts UKIP at 13%, with the Tories at 29%, Labour at 38% and the Libs at 8%.
This means, the UKIP supporters equal half the number of Conservative supporters.
The Yougov. poll placed UKIP at 11%.
In all polls the Tories are collapsing rapidly, not only the Libs.
There is now talk of an imminent decision by some Conservative MPs to make a spectacular cross to UKIP, followed by phalanges of followers.
I must say, with a Chancellor promising us all Austerity for years to come, Barry's party deserves to lose, they left the electorate with no other choice. Things are changing rapidly.

OK so lets have some more views on this;
1; If UKIP were to become 2nd or 3rd then they would have made that breakthrough at the last general election when all
3 major parties were at there lowest, they didn't get 1 seat which says a lot.
2; The bye elections probably not the best way to look at future results, but them the mouse doesn't seem to breaking
through and as others have said he's hated in scotland, wales and the North.
3; It would be interesting to see the full results of the bye elections as i recall paul watkins being applauded for coming
second in barnsley but he actually lost by 20,000 votes or more
4; If UKIP have selected a person who doesnt know which party he wants to be in, then im sure the local people will
vote even less than the 660 votes he got last time, wonder if alexander is happy with the selection of a ukip candidate
who has little hope in Dover(over to you alexander)
5; Its great that labour is still holding it's own
6; of course in Rotherham like most councils they are officer led(peter any views) and this a good example where cllrs
were not in control

will be interesting to get alexanders view on this one
couldnt name anyone as no names were put up
so charlie won by getting 20,or 30,000 and ukip 1,000 ok didnt they do well???
over the past 2 years(just like the previous general election)a lot has happened but no breakthrough.
QUOTE; but they still would not get in at Dover but it would help one party and hit the other hard.
And the post 25 says it all happy just to be also rans
so vote UKIP not for them to win, but just to dislodge one of the bigger parties
sure thats lost quite a few UKIP votes

Ukip is a young party only 20 years old.
They do not give a jot about other party's.
They see the EU as the biggest enemy of democracy.
The British parliament is not in control of this country,
This was never voted for by uk citizens .
Every UK citizen should be disturbed by this.
Slowly people are waking up to the reality of this fact.
We can vote out British politicians, we cannot vote out the EU dictatorship
Keith s.
As a democrat this should disturb you to

Well Keith B, we can't vote out the EU dictators but hopefully we shall get the chance to vote ourselves out of the EU.

24-6, Keith, don't blame the Rotherham councillors, I hear they are the best that money can buy.

Keith, the only statement I can make here is that the Government has promised us Austerity for years to come.
As far as I'm concerned, they are doomed to failure.
In the by elections, it has become evident the vast majority of people do not even vote anymore.
It's either Prosperity or Austerity for me. Anyone promising less than Prosperity would never get my confidence.
UKIP's increasing support makes one thing clear: the likes of the present government will not be in again, once they are out.
Whether or not UKIP were elected into government, they will prevent the Tories getting anywhere near government.
A sterile government is of no use to anyone. Our Chancellor is a joker!

There are 2 very different issues here alexander
1; is the thread about UKIP doing well as a protest party, but the proof will be in the pudding at the next general election
for me i would prefer to vote for a party able to ,make changes and able to win elections rather than one as you say that
is happy to just come 2nd or 3rd or 4th etc

i think i will have to open a book on who the mystery councillor is, any guesses?

No idea, Howard.
I'm not aware of any UKIP candidate being elected councillor.
Personally, if I were an independent councillor elected after a campaign, I'd support UKIP on many issues, but would still campaign for more social equality in terms of wealth pre-distribution.
Then there is the fact that I'm nor a fan of the human monarchy, so I campaign for a new Constitution too: Constitutional Democracy.
Every MP has to swear an oath to the human monarchy, something I'd never do!

i can see the ukip vote rising next time and what with the aborted boundary changes i think charlie should start looking in at the job centre with a view to his own future.

Charlie's put his saucepans on the Port-project.
He doesn't campaign in any major public issues such as youth unemployment, EU referendum, elite greedy piggies, preservation of green areas and woodlands...

some truth there alex, charlie hung his hat on certain projects none of which have come to fruition - red clair must feel confident of replacing him in 2 and a half years time.

Red Clair and her people were running a street campaign right next to us when we were running the petition in High Street.
Charlie did the "Hellfire Corner" number on the Seafront with Dame Vera, to save England from the French.
Then he's appeared in Pencester Gardens wearing a Trade Union T-shirt, which should have signed his fortune with N.10's occupant, I'd say with a thumbs-down!
