I went looking for Howard's egret starting at Morrison's today but no sign of it, did see this little fella/ress swimming among the detritus in Pencester.
Also saw the Market Square planters recently dug over and the Biggin St drains being cleared so not all bad news.

brilliant shot ray, i was along there yesterday and the ducks seemed to be taking turns dive bombing each other - some sort of turf war i suppose.
then later in pencester the ducks were all on the grass and none in the river.

Spring has arrived here in france as well. I was out in a T shirt today. I'll always remember a couple of silly poems or songs that my father used to recite to me about spring.
Spring has sprung
The grass has rizz
I wonder where the birdies is ?
Now that time for spring has sprung
sprinkle everything with dung
The second one is obviously good advise for gardeners.

Yes thats one for our rural inhabitants, as I used to be myself one time I understand all too well..
"Now that time for spring has sprung

Like it Andy. Strange phenomenon isnt it..how manure brings a surge in growth.
How many mums actually know how their veg is grown..they wouldnt put it near the table if they did.

I found another frog full of spawn looking lost in the garden today, directed it to next door's pond. Apparently the ladies don't like these very much, if that's you look away now!

"What a difference a day makes
24 little hours..."
I took the top picture recording how flat calm the scene was with the reflected 'oil drums'. Beautifully calm it all was. Spring is here at last and what a day, thought I. The next day we have a pea souper with the warning wailing bell ringing out across the bay, and you cant see a thing. Its the same scene. All the seasons happening at once. Its much foggier this morning if anything. (top picture thursday, second picture friday..saturday today would just be an all white image from where I am...ooh that lonely bell..for whom does it toll, it tolls for thee.)

Indeed Brian its topsy turvy weather and those picture above show the extremes if you like. The fog has pulled back as we write, so having some visibility now...and hark...I think the wailing bell has ceased.

How about those fog horns Thursday nIght? They seemed louder than normal, probably due to wind direction. Woke me up about 1am. Icant complain though, an eerie sound that I quite enjoy listening to.
