Proper spring starts next week. Rain - that'll keep people in more.

That chiffchaff's chiffs and chaffs are all over the place, BW. Is it a local accent? I must say, they're much more disciplined in Dover.

WGS, you asked last year if anyone knew the name of this tree.
I cannot find the original post.
I was determined to find out, so revisited it this year and can confirm it is the
European Hop-Hornbeam-Ostrya carpinifolia.

Actually it was the year before last, RB, here at post #22, BW:
https://www.dover.uk.com/forums/dover-forum/waterloo-crescent-conservation-area?p=2. Top work, thanks.
By way of acknowledgement, here's a pic of a half-in-bud-half-in-blossom genuine hawthorn, with a bonus view of the harbour, the castle and St Mary in Castro.

Amid all the doom and gloom daffodils are beginning to wake up. I took this photo on my early morning walk today.

Gosh they are early but how nice to see them. I noticed a couple of my hyacinths that I have had for years in a tub outside are higher than usual for this time of year, maybe it will be an early Spring.

On my walks, I've noticed the daffodils have started blooming along the churchyard path to St Martin of Tours at Guston, let's hope it's good sign.....

No snow yet, but a really frosty outlook in the countryside this morning.
I took one photo and then the ‘phone decided to hibernate although it was only -2.9 degrees!

Spring might be on its way but there are still icy patches on the paths .I have just swept my patio. The birds throw the moss off the roof. Some people encourage them so it means moss every where which stains the patio and path .It cost me a lot of money to have it redone.Too cold for me to go out for a walk .
