Oh, how your hearts must sink each time this thread is brought back to the front page of the forum. Whether it is that I cannot apologise enough, or that no particular apology is required, is very much a matter for the individual.
One feature of the old forum, which has not to date been replicated here, was that we would regularly get news of how well 'we' were doing, how many individual visits, how many hits, how many mentions in the local press etc. along with praise for our efforts and exhortations to keep up our good work. I simply assume, rightly or wrongly, that these conditions persist, and on that assumption I write of this...
Should we dread the coming of old age?
I have read many times that with advanced age comes the flood of rich and colourful memories of childhood. Oh that such would bring joy to each, and I have no particular skeletons a-queuing-up myself. Yet I do know that, either as expected or as a complete surprise, for many of our fellows whose childhoods were, perforce, long ago, some shadow of dread waits to fall across their soul.
It is with these several things in mind that I post notice of the following...
Operation Greenlight
"Operation Greenlight was set up because we were appalled by the revelations of sexual and other abuse of children and vulnerable young people in this country spanning decades. Operation Greenlight is intended to drive awareness of the situation by providing a focused resource that links to the wealth of publicly available information relating to abuse in children's homes and other institutions. The purpose is to alert people to be more aware in order to protect our current and future generations. "
