Sorry sir but I do not think it is the law of the land,I agree that the D.H.B. said at one time that they would be taken on, why that did not happen only they can tell you,but I do not think they are needed now.So why pay out funds for what is now not needed.Thank you for your post and the way it was wrote.

That does not say they have to take on [paid] any member of the public on to their own setups.

All we are doing is going round and round on this one it .Anyway it was only my own view that they are not needed and that view is the same now as it has been from the very start and it is not law that they be taken on.Let them get on with the work and it will look grand when it is all done .And Dover will be better off in the way of jobs and cash.

Never let proven fact get in the way of opinion however wrong that opinion might be.

For the avoidance of doubt this is in the summing up from the Ports minister.
I want everyone to feel that their voice is being heard as these developments progress. The new community directors will enable this to happen.
The harbour board will continue to play a significant role in regeneration.
I have asked them to improve their focus on this and, as a result, I have agreed that the harbour board will create divisions responsible for day-to-day operations and regeneration.
As with commercial operations, the new regeneration division will benefit greatly from the new borrowing powers in moving forward its plans.
This structure will also enable the regeneration division to enact or enter into the whole range of commercial arrangements which will allow regeneration opportunities to be maximised.
Furthermore as a future step, I would like to explore the possibility of the regeneration division becoming a subsidiary company or trust.
That would allow it to benefit from an even greater range of external funding that would not otherwise be possible, for example heritage funding opportunities .

Well said Jan - you always make me smile. What you say is so true
Howard - thanks for that - it should silence VM at last on this subject

Thanks Jacqui

Love it Jan
Also reminds me of my 4 yr old granddaughter. If she doesn't like what her brother is saying she sticks her fingers in her ears and sings lalalala as loud as she can. Can imagine Vic doing that too!

Why you both have to be rude just because I write my own views like you do yourself I do not know ,
But it will not stop me and I do not care anyway so please carry on.

Vic we're not being rude at all. Jan and I share the same sense of humour and to be fair you do lay yourself open to us teasing you. Whatever anyone posts and even though that person may have information that is true if it doesn't agree with what you think you deem it wrong. Yes you are entitled to your view just don't poo poo anyone who disagrees with you. Accept that other people have information that is fact rather than a view as in your case.
Finally and as has been said on here more than once - if you put your head over the parapet expect to be shot at

Having now been down and seen for myself the plans for the port over the next few years,it all looks very good and with the new shopping outlets being done by the D.D.C. it looks good for Dover I think in the next five years Dover will be the number one town to head for when taking a day out with the family, or just shopping. More jobs for the local public and the very big + is that the the D.D.C. and the DHB are working with each other .I am just sorry that the same cannot be said about the town council which is being run by the town clerk, and not as it should be the cllrs, but they are only a parish council after all said and done, and Dover could do without it and the cost of running it well over £600.000 the public are not getting any value out of it.There are good cllrs on there but letting that town clerk run shot over them.Again my view only,

At Monday night's AGM of the People's Port Trust I raised the possibility of having another town referendum similar to the previous one. The vote would be to express no confidence in the willingness of the board of directors of DHB to honour its community obligations and to demand their resignation. The meeting's response was positive.
And Vic, before you start dancing up and down about the town meddling in the running of the port, this is not about management but governance and strategic direction.

It might have the effect of getting through to DHB but would the town council be willing to pay for it?

I would like to think with strong enough support they would be willing to spend some of our money, but I would rather see the DHB stop treating us all like yokels, start telling us the truth (or at least stop lying), and actually start engaging with the community (not just the Eastcliff residents association [aka:Port and community forum])
