Wonderful to see the objections gaining momentum, the post from Ray is well worth a read and Cllr Heron calls for a new consultation period as in effect they are new plans very different to what we had before.

Cllr heron is right - new plans all approved by "DDC" (not saying whether councillors or officers and no mention of public consultation) saying they think it would ok to change from a 4 berth ferry terminal to 2 berth cargo terminal (1.1 of Combined Design and Access and Heritage Statement).
Too many potentials, possibles and elsewheres in the application to know what is going to be provided eventually.

I would object................ But the site refuses to acknowledge my previous login details, so I decided to re-register it now says my address does not exist even though it is in the drop down menu. I might try again later when I am not so irritated with all the form filling.

Keep trying Jan I found the cut off date which is 7th August, clever timing when so many people are on holiday.

This seems to have been rushed out in response to over 100 objections on the planning application. Readers will judge for themselves.

There's still going to be a public pier though isn't there? To the eastern side of the new marina?
Obviously not as long as the Prince Of Wales Pier, but that's going to be in the middle of a freight terminal.

Certainly makes it clear they won't be reopening the pier in the future, and how many years away will the new extension be?what's to stop them altering the plans after the cargo terminal is done and we don't get a pier at all.
Not that I don't want to see the regeneration just that DHB has been shown to lie to and manipulate DDC and Dover's citizens on numerous occasions and this will be no different.

Perhaps the compromise would be to build out the new public first?
The link Howard post also says "the new marina curve will be publicly accessible" presumably that means the pier that stretches out into the harbour?

Mr Karlos I think you have hit the nail on the head there and I hope you are right.

I think what we have to remember the latest press release is just that, if there were guarantees in the planning application of full public access to the pier including anglers with mobility problems and the great views were mostly unchanged then the public would very likely go with it despite the loss of beach.

For information, the curve of the Marina does not refer to the new pier on the plan at the Sea Sports Centre side of the potential new Marina. The curve of the Marina refers to the first 180-200m of the newly lowered Prince of Wales Pier overlooking the potential new Marina facing towards the Castle.

I notice the drawing on today's press release highlights the "marina curve" but there is no indication how far the proposed marina will stretch alongside the pier. Another thing is that I am having trouble picturing what view we will get from the pier when it is 7 and a half feet shorter.

It's becoming increasingly obvious that the DHB have only been paying lip service to their obligations towards the community. The HRO of 2012 which was intended to authorise ferry T2 was altered without further public consultation into a freight terminal. DHB claim saving of 140 jobs and generation of 600 more yet we have seen no independent studies showing how that can happen by increasing throughput of bananas and pineapples, especially with competition from the superior facilities at Thames Gateway. My feeling is that the community won't stand much more of being ignored, taken for granted and trampled over in the pursuit of ever bigger bonuses for the powers-that-be in Harbour House. DHB are dragging their feet on the appointment of community directors, claiming that a new constitutional HRO is needed, then drafting one that flies in the face of everything the Ports Minister laid down in our meetings of April last year, thus delaying the appointments even further. DHB claim to be close to overcoming objections to their draft HRO but not only is that demonstrably false, they have not even approached DPPTL to discuss our objections.
DPPTL has remained on the sidelines recently out of a desire not to embarrass Neil Wiggins, our previous chairman and who is a board member designate of DHB. But enough is enough.

Other than better PR nothing has changed since the going of Dr Goldsmith, the same breathtaking arrogance remains. I think they are a bit rattled by the opposition to their latest plans by townsfolk, but will the planning committee have the courage to reject their latest planning application?

They will if I have anything to do with it.

It would be great to see a large number of objectors attend the planning meeting making the decision - next ones are 20th August and 17th September.

In the first bit it does say "• Transform Dover seafront for future generations with the potential creation of a new marina." To me that says that the marina isn't necessarily going ahead as such. Once this cargo facility built will the cruise ships still be berthing on the admiralty?

Will the cargo ships want to use the new berths when the lorries to get their goods off are STILL stuck in Stack?

176 people have now posted on the planning application with only 1 supporting it, corporate greed seems to be the common view, hopefully the planning committee will take the strong objections into consideration.
