Thank you Peter. I'll check out your information & ask why if correct.

The Western docks regeneration is not viable if you look at the big picture but alas as already stated DHB are not interested in Dover or the district. Just look at at the millions and millions of pounds being spent on replenishing the districts beaches, improving flood defences and fixing the coastal rail line between Dover and Folkestone.
All will potentially need further millions in the coming years after DHB dredges the Goodwins.

Thanks Paul that's good news, so the rumour mill doesn't always ring true.

Let us hope that DHB did not apply the same formula to its future model for DWDR that the Treasury recently gave George Osborne in support of the 'Remain' campaign.
For those interested in economic modelling it can be found on the gov.uk site HM Treasury Analysis - page 158 of a 201 page mighty tome entitled "the long term economic impact of EU membership and the alternatives"
Fascinating reading - if one can stay awake that long!

And if one is to believe Osborne's speculation (guesswork) over the Remain group's speculation.

Jan, spot on with the word "believe" in this context. Or as a BBC political editor put it recently - it comes down to the simple question of who do you trust (or not). That is the real, and probably sole, consideration for most. Not the hype, not the claims and counter claims, not the statistical arguments and I suspect not any highly speculative data on where the world might be in 2030.

Anyone got any updated information on the regeneration of the western docks as it looks like all the work has ceased.

Yes I have plenty of information from various sources, unfortunately I am unable to publish it as none of it has been confirmed. But I'm happy to brief any forumites who drop in to the pub.

Certainly many rumours doing the rounds but only DHB can confirm or deny but what is irking many people is the issue of closing the pier 4 months ago and no work being done there.

I did notice this evening a crane and a dumper truck and a few other bits of plant parked up on the pier so maybe they,re making a start on it.

I think the Express story could be the tip of the iceberg, but Peter could be mistaken over only advertising in the UK - I remember putting a link somewhere on here about a DHB contract being advertised in the European Journal but can't find it now (or I might have put it on Dover Locals!).
There's no contract being advertised on there at present using Dover as a search word.

The DE has jumped the gun badly here. I merely asked them to investigate the rumours that were all over town, not to blab it all over the Internet without confirmation. Seems like they are truly the DHB poodles we all thought they were.

Agree that the Express are in DHB's pockets, the advertising revenue is vital to them but cannot see how this story keeps them in their good books.

The whole article is about rumours attributed to me being false Howard.
It will be interesting to see how it turns out.
Next time I see young Mr Bluer I shall give him a piece of my mind for going public with off-the-record information.

My comment that Peter could be mistaken was uncharacteristic of him, now we know he was badly quoted.

For goodness sake Vic you are beginning to sound like a broken record, we all know that in your eyes DHB are never wrong and everyone else who complains about their antics is talking rubbish. Talk about being stubborn.
