It seems to be working now. Having read the document, I can only see the word relocate, but there is no mention that they'll go on the new structure. In a letter marked Historic England Response:
https://planning.dover.gov.uk/online-applications/files/8B1E61377F3AE37A061EF10F1A03D176/pdf/15_00627-HISTORIC_ENGLAND_RESPONSE-299460.pdf, it says the following...
Quote:... it also proposes to remove and then store the listed furniture on the entire pier with the intention of re-instating it after the works are completed, although not necessarily all in its original locations.
It is not clear whether that intention to reinstate the furniture applies after completion of the currently proposed works or after the completion of the whole T2 project. If the former, we are not sure why the furniture from the entire pier needs to be removed when only those items on the sheet-piled extension would be affected...

When all the work is done to the port and the new shops etc Dover will be the best place to come by sea and road in KENT.
And with all the history sites around the Town and Port we will see the Hotels doing well with lots of public from round the world staying here for a week or more.It will take five to ten years to see it like that but it will happen.

If the Western Docks scheme is successful, it will make the town's traffic problem much worse and create directly no more than a few dozen poor quality jobs. The indirect job creation will be mostly non-local. If the scheme is unsuccessful it will bankrupt the DHB, driving it into the arms of its financiers. Doesn't sound like a win-win outcome to me.
A knock-on effect will be that worse traffic congestion will threaten the viability of the DTIZ, leaving us in 5 years time with another white elephant. The only winners will be the restaurant chains sucking the lifeblood out of locally-owned competitors.
Sorry, I'm not normally so pessimistic, but it's Christmas after all. Bah Humbug.

The big problem is that there is nothing to draw all those people who are
not interested in the town's history. As an example the husband loves history but the wife does not, she will either go out of town or even worse stop them from coming here.

We,ve not long been back from the pier and i.ve never seen it as busy for the time of year, even the cafe was open today, everyone enjoying and making the most of it before it shuts.Such a shame.

According to social media the pier closed for the last time yesterday after a full day of people with their cameras walking it for the last time. Doubtless the people that brought it about and/or encouraged it will not lose a wink of sleep.

They didn't ask the right people - I went in the café on Wednesday and they knew last day was yesterday.

Maybe the Express did know? They get a vast amount of advertising from D.H.B and it would be in their interests that there was no mass demonstration on the real day of closure.

There is a office and show room and staff this is open to the public to go in see for yourself and the staff will help you with anything you would like to know. This a major job and yes it will take time and will mean there will be some upset to the public till all the work is done ,but as it stands today we have the best staff and members of the D.H.B. in place more then we have had in the pass I must say,and they are there to help Dover and the public it is not all just about the port and ships etc.I am 73 years old now and must say will I be around to see it all done ,I hope so.Dover is on the up with all the new builds going on ,so we all have to put some trust in the staff that are doing it all .the pass is the pass so lets move forward and stop talking about what or did not happen in the pass. Again my views only thank you.I am glad not see the port go to the group who wanted to buy it, but in saying that the group did do some good work and it helped in the way the port and the D.H.B. is moving and working with the councils now ,So their work was not in vain.

Sorry Jacqui but if you can only resort to slagging Vic off and being rude about him please don't bother posting, it is your type if comments that deter others from speaking and posting there own views freely.
Like it or not Jacqui its called online bullying. Please just ignore Vic if you can't be nice.

Thank you sir for saying that.
I do not take any notice after the years it has been going on.
Must say it does put me off from posting at times, but I know that is what they want me to do.
I am not rude to anyone. and do say my views are my own.
I am not much good at spelling but do my best and have a dictionary at my side all the time.
But I try not to look at the keys so that does not help.

I know you are man enough to do that Vic, but its not attractive to new members who are wary of posting if the response is personal criticism, wouldn't it be nicer if everyone was more tolerant and less petty.
