[QUOTE="Vic Matcham"]There is just a few of you that will never be happy with what the d.h.b. do so I say carry on do the work and let Dover say after what they think:-)

I took my usual walk down to the POW pier today and was very dismayed to see new fencing by the clock tower, the fencing has been evidently erected in preparation for the closing of the POW pier to public access. It is becoming self-evident that DHB regard the granting of the planning permission a given, or has there been a little nod and a wink somewhere already ?
A clear conscience is the sure sign of a bad memory.

Nothing has been passed for planning and it is not on the agenda for the next meeting on the 22nd of this month. If work did start we can be sure that there will be many protests.

The few? More like the majority on here including most that live in Dover. We,ve been down the pier today,it was full of people enjoying the walk and views. When i look at the stupid leaflet thats been dropped through the door i just cannot believe that they wish to destroy it for the sake of a stupid container port and a load of warehouses.I hope that theres so much oppostion against it that it never happens. There must be other ways of doing this.I think that most of Dover will never forgive the DHB for this if they go ahead.

The town would become a laughing stock again, whilst all around the coast councils and voluntary groups are fighting for funding to their piers to effect repairs. We have a perfectly good one enjoyed by locals and visitors alike and grade 2 listed yet the vandals at DHB are planning to dismantle it and put the furniture somewhere else eventually. The vast majority of people know what they are up to and are not taken by the projected waterfront development that is offered as a bait to stop protesting.

Folkestone has a reopened
harbour arm with a mix of food and drink venues and it's a great success - presumably Vic would say only for the few thousand or so who have visited.

I would support the development if only we knew EXACTLY what the plans are and when they are going to happen. Nothing can stand still.

And DHB have not released the feasibility study which says the WDR scheme is a good idea. Something to hide perhaps. Where are the 600 jobs coming from?

Coming from one who talks more rubbish than anyone else on the forum that's rich!!
Keep keeping us informed please Peter, and Vic - just belt up - you are talking rubbish!

There's always a little truth behind every "Just kidding", a little emotion behind every "I don't care" and a little pain behind every "I'm ok".

Hello Brian - nice to see a friendly person online
I do envy your views up where you live - wish I could see the ships from my house. Still with all the lovely pics from Paul, Mike etc at least we see them on here in Sea News.

There is only one person talking rubbish and it certainly isn't Peter.
This forum is made up of a cross section of views on all subjects, we respect other member's thoughts on a subject and accept we might be wrong if in a minority and stop trying to brow beat the
majority.
In other words we know when it is time to keep quiet until we have
proof we were correct.
