Just a quick reply to Bob Frost post 106, as expected apart from C Precious the conservatives and Indies all followed the party line and voted like sheep.
So here's the result for anyone that's interested;
Mayor
Rix 7 votes
Cowan 5 votes
Abstaining C Precious
Dep Mayor
Walkden 7 votes
Wallace 5 votes
I should add the following;
Apologies;
Jones
Phillpott
Lamoon
Heron
Wanstall

Congratulations to Neil hopefully he took his supporters out for a few sherbets.
If councillors were voting along party lines then Gordon would have won if his fellows turned up?

Wonder how much all this mayor making and all the paraphernalia that goes with it costs the poor hard working taxpayer Surely this is a title that s out of date with modern times ,certainly the fancy dress is ,should be holed up in a museum & if we have to have a Mayor then let the ppl of Dover decide on someone that's done good for the Town ,and maybe a 3 piece suit for a male and a dress / skirt and jacket for a Lady ,would save a lot of money

An elected Mayor sounds all well and good until the costs of an election come into play. Remember the Person's Port one that ate into the DTC budget, that would be miniscule in comparison. I would much rather pay out for some silly robes and regalia than have an enlarged council tax bill.

A fat lot of good the voting on the People's Port was. No notice was taken, and many people wonder where their £10.00 went?
This was a done deal, and so is the outcome of the Mayor.
Neil Rix will go back in.
It is how is all works in Dover, and heaven help you, if you upset it, or them.

Our £10 went to stopping the port being sold that was the result we got?
The Mayoral vote was last night Neil won, so yes done deal that's how it works all over the country what's the problem?

Mr Barrington sir you got it wrong sir your £10 went along for the PPto buy but they did not get it so they lost along with your £10,they were never going to win any way.
And Mr Rix was the best person for the job in my way of thinking.

I admit I am not quite right the £10 went to setup the vehicle to buy the port if it was going to be sold, thankfully it wasn't.

£6,000? That Edwards Harvey's not providing much value for money with Forumite opinion methinks! FWIW I'm more than happy to provide useless advice to DTC for half that sum.

Consultants are supposed to be like Stella, reassuringly expensive, otherwise how do you know their consultancy is valuable?
