Re post 15. yes The Mayor is in a position to do those things .he or she has contacts to get these things done .I know manny Councillors who are used to rolling up their sleeves.A Mayor is not just there for dressing up .If post 15 Had pride in Dover he would lobby the Mayor to do something about the problems I described.
I do hope you will get a chance to see the film aTown on the Edge. Yes Chris was very hard working and his diary was always full.i think the current Mayor wouldn't do well to appreciate this .

Working hard - it's a personal definition. In my mind, socialising on freebies, looking untidy, to put it mildly, and writing some blogs " look what I did" style, doesn't impress many who have actually done physical work and for those, socialising is a relaxing pass time as a reward after a hard days toil. From those who live in CP ward, they never get anything done in the ward and certainly never see him getting stuck in. How many bags of litter has he or will he pick in his ward? Just as an example- I know Cllr Brivio was out 2 days getting involved, getting her hands dirty. Ronnie Philpott apparently was a very good mayor but health problems will exclude her. I seriously can't think of 1 cllr who should reap the credits of what Rix has started other than the man himself.

If you want a Mayor to walk around the town with a mop and duster then fine but I would prefer one who is strategic, a background in business and can see the big picture. That may or may not be Rix, I really don't know, but if Dover really wants to move forward it urgently needs better than the series of well meaning but mainly amateur Mayor's we have had in recent years.

Quite interesting some posters tried to start by aiming to be unbiased (share the chain around) and then ended up saying it shouldnt be shared.

Well you obviously read English in a different way to the way I do Keith. How is your ward coming on? Last time I took the dog for a walk around there it was in a dreadful state. Must be such hard work trying to sort it all out . ..

For God's sake take it to the Vet then woman. If you can't afford to look after an animal properly give it to someone who cares.

After reading all the comments above,my conclusion is Mr Rix needs to be given a second term to complete the projects started this last year. Yes, we haven't seen any progress as yet but, Rome was never built in a day. if a second term was granted I am sure we will see results.
The blogs previously written by a former mayor which I read with interest but merely reported on the good times & jollies at each event he attended! but, no improvement to our town was ever seen.
Given time I am sure Mr Rixs' projects will show a marked improvement to our town. Just makes so much sense to see a project completed.

I am very critical of Neil refusing to step down after bringing such disrepute to our town, I do however think he has had an acceptable tenure as mayor and have no problem with him standing for a second term.
I would very much like to know what all these projects are though, other than the questionable "Love Dover" I have heard of no others?

As someone who held this position I know what it takes to be the Mayor and quite frankly both Chris(Precious) and Neil(Rix) have both done an excellent job. Neil has combined both the Mayoralty and running a successful business bringing direct prosperity to the Town whilst Chris combined his tenure with being a very good parent to a child who needed extra care.
The position of Mayor is mainly decorous and requires someone who is good at 'gladhanding' and looking good whilst doing so which most of the recent incumbents have done with aplomb.
It should be noted that the good work done by recent Mayors was not always highlighted and publicised but I myself am aware of numerous instances of them.

Long as it's not Brivio ,,She was more interested in taking photos of HRH Prince Harry in Folkestone then being with the ppl of Dover ,My mate told me that her behaviour enraged the ppl of Folkestone as she showed no respect whatsoever

Cbp, your information is second hand whereas mine is personal experience, Councillor Brivio was an excellent Mayor and community champion.

#27. My dog is well looked after, thank you for your unsolicited advice. Better in fact than many others I see. He is a retired guide dog for the blind and everything is done to ensure he enjoys his carefree retirement. For ease of understanding, it is Cllr Sansum 's ward that is dreadful. Never seen so much rubbish, litter and Flytipping in all my years. But it seems a number of people have selective sight and walk past it as if it's normal. Even if they don't sort it out themselves, it could be reported and cleaned up by the council. I would not recommend anybody to have a sightseeing walk around there.

The trouble with Folkestone Road is that some people are so used to the state of it they have closed their eyes and no longer see what is in front of them.

Bob's play on words not appreciated by all - never mind. Not sure how a Town Councillor can take the blame for the state of Maxton, Elms Vale and Priory ward when it is a District Council matter. A landlord licensing scheme would make all the difference in my view but as we know DDC are not having it. Fly tipping is normally cleared within 48 hours of being reported.

I am surprised and dare I say a little ashamed that an army wife of long standing can't see the humour in simple pun!
I would however strongly recommend she not wonder around the St Radigunds ward if she is so shocked by the state of Maxton, Priory and Elms Vale ward and are we to assume the Lady excludes herself from the list of people with selective sight and reports it?

Indeed I do report it and pick a lot of it up, unlike some who walk straight past I forward photos with addresses to DDC OR KCC as the case may require and wonder why at least the Cllrs in dirty wards can't do the same, if not the residents, as they pass by. It is because I have been connected to the forces for so many years that I find filth, rubbish and Flytipping so offensive. I always lived in married quarters and was spared lack of care in the community. Quite how people can find it normal is beyond me. Reginald, how you decide I shame you is rather puzzling and if you forgive me for saying so, less than conduct or comment becoming that of a gentleman. So the shame was a little premature.

Getting away from the Red herring
So far I'v been lobbied by C Precious who wants to do a deal with Labour
Cllr Rix
I'm hearing that Cllr Wanstal wants to throw his hat in the ring.
We could also see Roger Walkden stand
Could be quite a bun fight
