Just watched Ed Miliband's election broadcast. Presented well but really just a wish list for a general election. Didn't think any of it relevant to district elections.

What do you mean by "selective memory" Howard ?
While John was on here posting, Nigel was out walking around Dover looking at the guard rails and making a full report.
It was Nigel - not John, who got the Contractors and KCC down here and walked around with them.
Postings on the Forum did not change the minds of KCC or the Contractors - real work did.
As I said, it was Nigel who got it thrown out, not John - or Gordon Cowan.
Just re-read your last bit about the meeting being irrelevant Howard, because it was going ahead anyway - what do you mean by that ?

There is a debate on Radio Kent's breakfast show (John Warnett) tomorrow about local elections in Dover. Might be worth a listen.

so with less than 48 hours to go before the polling stations open,still no word on the tory leaflets,that are readable that is.
it would be nice for a tory to put up a leaflet or two on the forum,just to give a balance for those who havent got a tory standing in there ward.
as far as i am aware there is two wards boardering town and pier that torys are standing in.so a choice for the torys 1,post your leaflets on the forum or 2,have some droped through my letter box.there is tory candidate that lives my estate that knows my adress so whats stopping that person dropping some off for me.

Roger I brought it out into the open on here and in the Papers,we surveyed nearly 500 houses about the scheme and many didnt know about it,when they did only 2 people we spoke to actually wanted it,one was a member of Dover Society who are opposed to street furniture,those people made it clear thier feelings.
You are right I couldnt stop it alone and was pleased to see Nigel was on board and of course going around checking the barriers is Nigel's job,but thanks for bringing it up on here,I was hoping someone would.
Alexander not Harold Street,Dover Priory ticket office 15.00 to 22.30,no one will ever swop a late turn for an early.

john,i have had 3 labour and 1 indie/aliance leaflet.the only draw back is the tory candidate droped out so that the indie/aliance would have a better chance against labour.

Yes I know Brian,Stewart and I are old Friends,just thought he would like to help the Labour Party,perhaps not! Good thing we didnt rely on him to drop our leaflets,oh and by the way we dropped into known Tory support as well,we even dropped a leaflet into Graham Wanstall on the Red Telephone Box party,has Vic been in that Party yet?
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

SUE;
I'm sure you will have no problem being re elected.
JOHN;
You will see the desperation of the conservatives desperatee to find a way to keep; the labour machine rolling.
like you say the issue you did raise, and does it realy matter who it was that got the job done, no as long as the job was completed.,
like sue john, you will have no problem being re elected because the electorate in tower -hamlets respect you, like they do in sue in river.
but i know you will take nothing for granted.

Two surprising things have just happened.
1 Two Tories seen in Buckland Ave,not dropping leaflets though,only to know Tories,just the selected few.I didnt get one!
2.Gordon Cowan has just recieved a phone call from Ed Milliband wishing the Labour Councillors luck and thanking them for thier hard work.

If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

i must say i am eagerly awaiting the interpretation of the vote by each party.

Every Party, however bad a result will look for some glimmer of good news to keep up the spirits of the volunteers who worked so hard for them. Often what you are on about is more for their benefit rather than the public at large.

brian;
i have predicted all along a labour 1 seat victory looking at all the seats across the district
and on the town council i forecast the alliance party to have it's worst result ever
mainly because of those jumping ship to join there bed fellows the tories.
