Peter, you say: "M. Gounon is not a ferry operator"
With this kind of stance from DPPT towards a ferry operator, the Government could never hand over the Port to DPPT, as it would immediately be cause of legal action. I believe it would hit against primary regulations in the realm of trade and commerce.
I'll copy what you wrote here, for you to read again.
When finished doing so, Peter, try thinking hard why DPPT would NEVER be taken into consideration!
"M. Gounon is not a ferry operator. He is the chief executive of Eurotunnel. Eurotunnel has bought the assets of SeaFrance with the primary aim of saturating the short sea route, and driving P&O and DFDS out of business. I am astonished that you choose to attach more credence to the words of a Frenchman with a large axe to grind than you do to those of us who are fighting to keep our port out of the hands of people like Gounon.
Or read a few paragraphs about the statutes of fair trade and commerce, Peter.
Xenophobia, and much more, are enclosed in your above-posted official DPPT stance, Peter.
However, to deny that MyFerry is a ferry operator at Dover Port, and to claim that their main goal is to drive the other ferry operators out of business, would have been - had DPPT been the owners of the Port of Dover - a case for judicial examination.
But fortunately for us all, Peter, DPPT is just a paper-port.
I think I made a replica of it with a sheet of paper, in the form of a sailing boat, and floated it in the bath tub. It got saturated and sank.
