  "The Dover Express is running an online poll, asking local people whether they support the People's Port bid for the community to take over the Port of Dover.

  A small minority of people, like Dover's Labour candidate, want to dump the People's Port. It is important for the future of our community that this does not happen.

  i think the public are confused in the main martin, unless they follow all the minutae of the issue it is difficult to work out the difference between the person's port and trust port status reformed so that they are in a position to borrow.

  When is Dover going to get real and get fully behind the DPPT. As far as I am concerned all the relevant questions have been answered to a totally reasonable level of satisfaction- considering the stage we are at with this critical issue. It's about time that we looked at all of this in simple terms again. (it's been a while since I pointed them out).
  
  It's obvious that the labour party have totally misread the situation. Surely the very essence of the DPPT denotes that it is a genuine people's community project and at the very least should warrant cross party support. Somehow for some unknown reason the local labour hierarchy have taken leave of their senses. What do they think DPPT is - some kind of Tory plot?! It seems to me that they have nothing to launch their 2015 election bid on- but then why choose to try and discredit a most forward thinking and locally beneficial project and try and stifle a brilliant opportunity for 21st century Dover. Their election campaign at this rate will be one of the most negative that Dover has ever seen... and what can they offer in return?..more of the same old sad, suffocating story, lacking in vision and community purpose for the world's most famous Port.
  It is scandalous that the Labour candidate should imply that there is something fraudulent about the Peoples Port £10-00 subscription. Ask any member - they are all totally satisfied with the the way that Mr Wiggins and his team are conducting the affairs of DPPT.
  I think it all comes down to the local labour party just being a bit miffed because DPPT wasn't their idea...Congratulations to Mr Elphicke for backing the favourite...

  Add to that Labour's contention that DPPT don't posess the experience and expertise to run a business the size of a ferry port. Several of our directors have run businesses many times the size of DHB and there is no suggestion in DPPT 's plans to replace professional managers. We are talking about a change of ownership and governance, not of management.
  
  Anyone who doesn't understand the difference between the role of a director and that of a manager should educate themselves a little.

  Why are you still flogging this dead horse the port will stay as it is with the D.H.B RUNNINGi it within the very safe hands of the royal charter the Queen will not sigh it away.   we were told that a decision on the future of the port would be announced by the end of the month.
  
  2 days to go and i have not heard any whispers/rumours.
