Mrs Hollingsbee,"Ah sorry about that last time we saw each other I was asked to call you Kath,so from today it is Kath thank you.
Back to the kiosk, first, all we are doing is seeing if there is a need for one over the summer weeks, also we are all unpaid volunteer,s with no funding at all,Richard got that one free, but had to work on it himself new lock etc and he paid for that.
As I said we have no wish to upset anyone over where it is and we are going to move it ourselfs when we have more helpers and time but it is over a ton ,with no wheels but it will be done. Thank you for your post.

Thank you for your kind words Vic x.
While I was at work this afternoon I had a thought. What about putting it outside Burlington House? It would brighten up a very dull area and it would be very close to the Bureau de change where a lot of people go to change currency and book ferries. Just a thought but I don't imagine it would upset anyone there.

cannot see any advantage there jacqui, cruise passengers, ferry day trippers and footfall from the town would miss it.
most of the bureau de change customers have already decided they are going abroad too.
i would still plump for cambridge terrace.

Vic - we didn't doubt you are doing an excellent job on the information, it is certainly needed.
Perhaps a more 'up-market' design kiosk will be installed sometime.

It is a team Kath and I am only a very small part of it. I will pass that on to the rest of them.Thank you.
Vic, do you ever, ever, ever really listen to people? We have been at pains to say that the idea was nice, but the kiosk is ghastly and in the wrong place. Why is it so difficult for you to actually listen?

Instead of condemning it, we should be putting our heads together to find an imaginative solution to the problem. The initiative is just what Dover needs,

let's all help in trying to improve the....er...visual aspects. Additionally to have it just sitting there all the time is not useful. When cruise ships are in port it needs to be somewhere else and when it is persisting with rain, the seafront is one place people don't go. Can we put wheels on it, Vic?

i am trying to think out of the box here, what about adapting the kiosk so that hot dogs can be sold at the same time that tourism leaflets are handed out.
the smell of onions would lure the cruise ship passengers.
Indeed, solutions rather than complaints - I confess though, that when Vic harps on and fails to listen I get a bit of a red mist. It IS a good idea and is something we could use, but it really is bloody horrible!!

It would be nice to see it in one of the cafe/kiosks on the beach or DHB allow use of part of Cambridge Terrace rather than sat there empty....
Been nice knowing you :)

Good to see some postings there with many positive suggestions as to where to house this information kiosk. Sue I was relieved to see your posting informing us that the matter is being discussed and that this has come directly from DHB. Hopefully, if this kiosk has to stay, it will be removed quickly away from the prime position it now occupies giving Dover Seafront its beautiful vista back for all to enjoy.

As I have said before if it has got to stay, place it by the Ice-Cream Parlours on the beach, Best Place if you ask me & get a Hot-Dog at the same time served by our very own Vic
