a new addition to our sea front close by the swimmer sculptures.
Great idea there for the tourists , hopefully some people from the cruise shops ships will use this and stay in out town , it beats them walking all the way to the town hall info shop.

This kiosk is another part of Richard Mahonys White Cliffs Tours.I belive that the Dover Greeters will be running it.
Million-to-one chances crop up nine times out of ten.

I don't think it will go that far - more likely a warning on how far the law can take things when dealing with listed building/scheduled monuments. The same laws that we have to deal with on the Western Heights and English Heritage themselves have to go though with the Castle.
An information point on the seafront like this is perfect

yes i suspect things will cool down and a settlement reached, jon iveson is passionate about heritage and conserving so he would go into one on being confronted with the alterations.

Yes, Jon has a responsibility to report it as it is 'his' building to look after - he is actively trying to work things out in the best way possible so work can continue to opening it up, but running off the the press straight away doesn't help anyones case.....
Been nice knowing you :)

Who called the Press, Paul - Richard ?
I would have kept quiet and hoped it all blew over so he could continue getting it ready for people.
Richard is a great enthusiast for Dover and Tourism and has (like me) been very frustrated over the years with the lack of help and support.

OMG! I can't believe this ugly looking Butlins type holiday kiosk of old is standing in prime position between the Channel Swimmers and allowed to be put there. It completely destroys the Vista! As one comes to meet our glorious seafront from Cambridge Terrace, one can hardly make out the swimming sculptures, they are barely visible when approaching, the eye is drawn to the ugly kiosk which is an eyesore. Its good to have an information kiosk on the seafront, I'm not against it at all but the prime position it occupies is just not on. Put it near or next to the ice cream cafe or anywhere else but not in front of our Grand Entrance near the new Dover Marina Hotel. It has been moved alright, turned around in prime spot destroying that wonderful view. Surely someone in charge of these things should act now to have it moved.
I was walking with daughter Saskia home from Uni for the weekend. When we arrived at the seafront she shrieked in horror at the sight of it right in front of the entrance and that is the reaction of one of our young Dovorian's, she got her shriek out before me!
