It's about time they started sponsoring the forum with the amount of stories they lift from here
Their photo though does make it look even more of an eyesore.

At least they have started to attribute the quotes. Some time ago they used to occasionally concoct articles from the forum posts without attribution.

According to Richard Mahoney's website he has a licence from DHB to erect this tourist information point. He claims to have applied for funding from DTC for staff.

Such an attractive kiosk after all... an information kiosk isn't a bad idea on the seafront, but for goodness sakes get it moved away from the chalk block plinths it has been wedged by. Yech.

he may have a licence from d.h.b. but according to peter (post 38) he would still need planning permission from d.d.c.

DHB don't need planning on their land which I think the promenade is part of

Only applies to the docks operational area, not their other land.

Thanks for that Scotchie, very pleased to see the Mercury taking up this story, it desperately needs to be tackled right across the media here in Dover Town. We need to get this monstrosity moved away from our Beautiful Vista entrance to our new very expensive redeveloped lovely seafront.
It needs moving elsewhere and Fast.

I would see it as more of an object subject to licence rather than planning permission, much like the ice-cream structure. As for other permissions, they must apply otherwise DDC planning department would not have been commended for their work on the sea sport centre.
As for positioning, it would have been far more exciting to suspend it between the two pieces of Portland stone.

Nice and brill idea about the kiosk, just in the wrong place.
Isn't there a lawn in front of the public loos by the coach bays?

'Butlin's-style' Kiosk blights seafront' this is the headline on Page 5 of the Dover Mercury this week, they have picked up on this story quoting our Associate Editor Howard and our Marketing Guru Colette

I have been told that it is an old SeaFrance check-in booth.

I certainly back an information kiosk Vic, but when is it moving from our seafront prime view?
