OMG went to see it for myself not a pretty sight at all, really surprised they have allowed it to be put there in that particular spot, especially after all the time and money spent on the promenade.
Wouldnt it be better the other side of the road in between the underpass and the sea front? plenty of empty boarded up windows for it to hide?
I applaud Richard for his ideas and agree that it is a good one but not there it really is an eyesore. Words fail me

I hesitated from posting as I did not wish to knock any development that boosts the towns tourism but was pleased that Colette took the bull by the horns with her no-nonsense approach to the kiosks unsightly position and left the kiosk door ajar ,so to speak, for me to have my twopenneth worth.
Was anyone consulted or even knew in advance of it being dumped in its present position? surely if they were then any sane person would object and come up with alternatives.
Does Vics manning the box mean that it will not now be moved this summer?
Why not place it near the Clocktower or on the POW pier?.
The Marina must be will chuffed at having spent millions on doing up their hotel to have a second hand egg box placed close to its frontage. Planning at its best....I think not.

still there this morning, wherever it ends up someone will complain.
the clocktower end or pier would mean that it would be missed by most except for cruise passengers.

where sheli suggested seems ideal to me.
would be seen by people coming from the cruise terminal and the ferries, also by people coming from town.

Do cruise passengers still walk into Dover? I am slightly out of touch... only the last thing I read was dismay being expressed by townsfolk at the passengers being collected and whizzed off to Canterbury and London by coach with others catching a cab to the rail station.

10/10 for trying, but the thing that gets me is that just because it is tourism related it 'deserves' a prime spot. At the end of the day it is someones private business that they make a living from.....
Been nice knowing you :)

Then they will be walking down to the underpass, put the eyesore on the other side of the road and everyone will be happy
See horace has been doing a roaring trade in the market square today - is Horace going to be manning the eyesore (sorry I mean kiosk)? We will miss him down here in the humble Market Square.

Sorry Vic, it is pasted with Dover Boat/Bus Tours and buy your ticket here so is rather biased towards a private business......
Cannot see Dover Castle, Painted House, Dover Museum, Crabble Mill, Langdon cliffs on it....
Been nice knowing you :)

I am working down the Cruise Terminal with visit Kent for about 10 days during the Summer,we do Port of Calls but not Saga or Fred Olson, some of the Dover Greeters have been signed up,and I know that some are also doing the Information Kiosk on the seafront.
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!
The new seafront is really classy and such an improvement, and really ruined by the kiosk. As many have said, fair play for trying, but the appearance of it drags down the effect on the seafront. Such a pity. We are, I thought, aiming to drive up standards, add some class - not with that carbuncle we aren't......

Well so long as your happy Vic...sod everybody elses views and complaints but you carry on in your own selfish way. I'm sure you'll be rewarded by yet more press coverage and photo opportunities that will ridicule Dover.
I see the headlines now"local numpty fights to keep secondhand ugly kiosk on new multi million pound revitalised seafront directly next to important sculpture dedicated to the world famous cross channel swimmers and close to recently refurbished hotel once frequented by Winston Churchill".
Apologies to other forumites for my tone.

Thank you very much for your rude remarks, which if you was living in Dover you might not have made. Anyway I did not say I am happy about it, but we have what we have and will make do with it. I would also like to add that the cart going round which is very good, was also given by Richard.
