there has been a lot of concern expressed about the new zero tolerance to be enacted in the town fairly soon.
i have been assured that officers will act in a responsible and fair manner at all times.
all training has been completed and i am just awaiting a picture of the officers in their uniforms.
will post here as soon as i get it.

At least it might get people to pick up after their dogs Howard; or not drop litter, or not do all sorts of "minor" crime.

nothing less would do the trick in the folkestone road roger, even more bins out on the pavement yesterday and the number of overflowing ones continues to rise.

Nothing less, as Howard says, than Zero Tolerance

You've seen my most recent emails to DDC Howard; you know how hard I'm trying, but some people just want to create a landfill site here in the street. I think that either hitting them or their landlords in the pocket, will be the answer.

I've been threatened with "enforcement officers" because I cancelled my direct debit and informed TV Licensing that I had moved. I've invited them to call round at the property to waste their time and licence payers' money.

not that kind of enforcement officer carol, i think you may be referring to debt collectors or bailiffs. the ones that ddc were intending to employ would have been charged with the duty of fining those who drop litter, fly tip or don't clear up after their dog.

Carole. providing you don't turn the TV on, you won't be liable to pay TV licence.

I don't know if the law has now changed but it used to be that once you got one of those letters you could write and tell the TV licensing people that you were withdrawing their implied right of access*, which meant they couldn't step onto your property.
* if you have a doorbell or letterbox the implication is you are inviting people on to your property to use them.

Hopefully these Environmental Enforcement Officers will make a difference, and using other additional resources to we can send out a message to the community, that such things as dog fouling and littering will not be tolerated.

From a communication sent out last week by DDC -
In response to public concern Dover District Council will be launching a new enforcement scheme on 4th February 2013 to tackle littering and dog fouling within the District. As part of this scheme the Council will be utilising external contractors (XFOR Local Authority Services Ltd) on a 6 month trial basis to issue fixed penalty notices on those witnessed littering or failing to pick up after their dog has fouled. The uniformed Environmental Enforcement Officers will operate anywhere in the district which is open to the air and accessible to the public. In addition the Council is seeking to authorise other officers including Civil Enforcement Officers, PCSO's etc in order to increase the effectiveness of the scheme.

confusing ray the scheme will be launched in 7 weeks time yet we read that enforcement officers were seen goosestepping near morrisons today.
maybe the last sentence from the communication should have been in the past tense?
