thanks for the link ray, some of the results were incredibly close.
the most interesting one was "town & pier" ward for town council, where gordon cowan and chris precious actually tied.

Fortunately there were two seats available or there would have been endless recounts with possibly a toss of a coin at the end.
Unfortunately for Chris, for Town and Pier in the district election the result was Jim Hood winning by 70 votes - does that reflect quite a difference in popularity between the two Labour candidates?

no surprise really, jim hood has always lived in the ward to my knowledge and is well known by the residents.
even vic would have not won against jimmy in aycliffe.

Including St Radigund's for Labour - as I think Bern used to say, who'd have thought it!
Howard, Vic wouldn't have won against anyone anywhere! I'm off to the first post-election parish council tonight, let's see if he does his two places at once trick!
They seek him here, they seek him there......................

Where was the announcement made, I have not seen it mentioned on on here before. I hope it is true before Vic makes a complete fool of himself.

Then something must have gone wrong, Howard.
I thought that the recent rumours on the front page about the miner with a socialist hanky forbode something.
Did Vic try to dig up the parishes for coal?

moving away from dovers results close by it appears thanet once strong labour and more recently held by the tories has gone to non overall control
27 tories 26 labour a few indies
but over in shepway where it used to be lib dem heartland who controlled the council just a few years ago, but then had a damaging split where a new peoples first party was formed of ex lim dem cllrs, the tories exploited this, and took control.
at the last election the romped home taking all the seats off the lib dems leaving just 2 people first cllrs up against 44 tories.
what surprize me is lynn beaumont tears lib dem leader surely she must have known what was coming. the lib dems did so badly they came third behind labour in many seats and that is a disaster if your aware labour doesnt do well in folkestone it held 10 seats once but soon lost them.
so the night realy was a bad one for the lib dems
sadly as always though a number of hard working lib dems lost there seats
but thats the choice of the people
mrs beaumont another lib dem leader send out that message to clegg to up his game, and not be here as the kicking boys
theres some lib dems realy hurting at the moment
