Thanks Howard for the info.
Seems we are back then to where we were in 1983, a straight Con/Lab Council in Con control - good news....

thanks for all those kind words, good to see such an interest.
would have been better if the result had been closer, the turning point for me was when the reds failed to get the third seat in both middle deal and maxton elms vale and priory.
had the yellows held whitfield it would have been a very interesting looking council.
good luck to all those elected especially the first timers.

There's always a little truth behind every "Just kidding", a little emotion behind every "I don't care" and a little pain behind every "I'm ok".

Yes indeed thank you Howard for all your sterling work.
I looked up the results for DDC here...
http://www.dover.gov.uk/council__democracy/electoral_services__elections/election_results.aspx
and learned that the bold Victor Matcham was duely elected to the following Parish Councils...
Lydden,
River,
Temple Ewell,
Whitfield.
Well done Vic.

No election for those seats Tom, they were all uncontested.

Ah. There was me thinking that the DDC were on the ball. Sorry about that and thank you Alec.
Over to you again Howard.

I had a hot and sweaty time at the count but did get to meet and have a chat with Keith and John Goodwin for the first time, and caught up with my councillor to be Vic.
And I moved the car of an old Labour friend who was waiting for an imminent declaration and afraid of getting a parking ticket - we often wind each other up on here but humanity rules when we meet in person

With out sounding thick shut up Brian, dose this mean with no overall control we will see a another 4 years with nothing being done in dover because they cant agree with one another.

Dover Town Council now consists of twelve Labour, four Dover Alliance and two Conservatives.
At District Maxton, Elms Vale & Priory went to two Labour (Sue Jones and Diane Smallwood) and one Conservative (Roger Walkden). Viv Revell lost her seat.
In those seats that Vic had to contest an election he came last.
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.

DTC before todays results was:
12 Labour
4 Dover Alliance
1 Independant
1 Vacant
So yes there will be new Town Councillors
Million-to-one chances crop up nine times out of ten.
