People who are interested in the work of the two Councils will want to know what the agenda is of the newly elected/re-elected Councillors for Town and District.
Discussions about party-politics at a local level are unlikely to be of public interest if these discussions only serve to separate rather than unite the administrative body. Especially if it goes on...and on...and on.....

I suppose one way round the toilet closure and lack of horticultural display is that the newly elected DTC will ask residents to *iss in the troughs. Job done , problem solved.

Now the election's over and we know who won what can we get back to normal?
Keith - your prophesies of PaulW being out and your party winning through were so wrong - maybe you shouldn't have been so cocky! (only joking!) However you were right about Matcham, he only won the undefended seats.
With regard to his forthcoming operation, I understand that last time he had it done he ignored doctors advice to rest it and insisted on going out walking. Let's hope this time he uses his brain and does as he's told, after all there are others waiting for these ops too.
Good to see Nigel and Roger voted in again - well done lads. Good too to see Jan in again, I may not follow her political views but she is such a nice person and really cares about her constituents. Well done Jan!
There's always a little truth behind every "Just kidding", a little emotion behind every "I don't care" and a little pain behind every "I'm ok".
Yes, Jacqui, they all seem to be a good bunch of people across the political spectrum and however we vote! Congratulations to them all. Now - get to work, councillors!!! We want some evidence of action!!

JACQUI;
I was the only one to predict and had the very maginal result in middle deal(3 seats) and north deal(3 seats) and lib dems not thrown there 2 seats away could have been much different.
and of course shep well.
but the result is the result, and all three parties will sit down an go through what went right an more importantly what went wrong.
i have put down my views on why i feel labour didnt get past the winning post even though they should have done.
lets hope lessons are learnt

The result, Keith, still has to be seen!
Now that the election campaign is over, we want to see results! Sure, it's going to be hard with an increasingly reduced Council budget over the coming years (-40% within four years), but the vast majority of people will not be looking at how Labour will get a one seat majority next time.
We will be hoping to see results in the administration of Dover Town and District during the coming legislation period. We've got unemployment galore, Pfizer is closing down, we've got a pollution problem along Townwall Street and in Dover Town-centre, problems with unruly behaviour of dog-owners, and so many other things that are all known to us.
Personally I am tired of politics, and, as many others, am interested in seeing results for Dover and District.

couldn't have put it better myself alex.
time for the politics to stop and action being taken.
just as one example this is the centrepiece of market square at 2.30 this afternoon, the town busy with visitors.

While in Blakes the other night and after taking the photo now showing on the frontpage..Roger speaking quietly to Jan said..
"Okay the vote is over now lets get on with making Dover a better place!"
Now the thing is, these guys actually mean it too...they were just talking privately. It is indeed the right kind of spirit. The spirit of the beehive.
Good luck to them.

Thank you Jacqui for your kind compliment in your above posting, I for one will still be doing my best for Dover and my constituents as Bern said we will work

together as sometimes you have to to get things done.
I think we know the workers in the mix!! I am not surprised at Jan and Rogers drive and commitment.

bern' alex, everyone
to be fair to all politicians you will find that they do work together throughout the 4 years, also said in blakes
(if we are picking up on comments made there) was rogers view that we both worked closely together when i was on the council.
also it has -been said on here the councils powers are becoming more and more limited, my view does remain that if we want to move forward then the cllrs of all parties need to take over the vacuum filled by officers and run the council.
this has always been an issue just look at postings in the past on the planning dept as one example there are many more.
iv also state before that it is easy to blame others, so i do support candidates from any party that put themselves forward getting little thanks, realise they shouldn't expect any, but lets give those that were elected by you all a chance to make a difference, thankfully every 4 years you have the opportunity to vote them out if they dont.

Not necessarily so, just two big egos thinking they are top dog.
I hate the way Clegg tends to look down his nose and does Osborne ever smile.

it looks as if one of them is going to say to the interviewer "will you tell thing i am not talking to him".
George is saying "for the last time, Dave never said you were his bestest friend, that's my job. After all, I get to present the Budgie. You get to sit in the chair and open the mail when Dave's away and I get to present the budgie. That's fair."

My caption is far too rude to print
Election results are now on DDC website for anyone wanting the detail
http://www.dover.gov.uk/council__democracy/electoral_services__elections/election_results.aspx
And for Alexander (who can't usually be bothered to read the detail

) the turnout overall was 44.84%, ranging from 53% in Eythorne to 30% in a couple of the town wards.
