You are right, Keith. Dover's roads could never cope with the DDC core strategy.
Some roads, such as London Road, which takes the main traffic towards Whitfield, are already at full capacity.
Barton Road is heavily congested, and it brings the traffic down from the Whitfield area.
Dover already has too much traffic.
All our schools are in the heavy pollution zones along the main roads where through-traffic passes from and to the Whitfield area.
Another one is Pencester Road and the section of Biggin Street open to traffic.
Not to mention the York Street-Folkestone road roundabout and Priory Road, leading to High Street and London Road.
All steaming right through the town centre.
It is just sheer fantasy to believe people living in 10,000 new houses in Dover will all travel by bus in order to go to work and to the supermarkets.
Just sheer and utter fantasy!
And if we adopt Paul Wells' proposal that they should use Jubilee Way, then they'd be adding to the port traffic coming down Townwall Street, to then turn right at York Street and... where then?
You GUESSED it!

Priory Road... London Road...
Unless, of-course, they turn off Townwall Street at the Leisure Centre and hit Castle Street and proceed through Market Square to York Street!
Even then, they'd still end up on London Road!
Paul Wells is from Deal, so Paul perhaps is not so acquainted with Dover's traffic hee hee
But good advice always welcome
