I suspect most of the money will go into the building and brand new equipment instead of making use of what is already there which would have been the cheaper option.
The whole thing has been a fiasco.

Sorry Mrs Higgins that is not the case the building is to old,it will keep costs down by building a new one,(How do I know/) well that was part of my work, Always harder to work or add on to a old building, nothing fits and when you srew in it all the wood is is no good,so all in all the best way is to start from new, it is not a fiasco, but been far to long geting to where they are today, the costs have gone up from the four years ago. But we are where we are.

The new Haemodialysis unit has been signed off and there will be an increase in the number of units, so that is good news.
Not sure when it's coming to the Planning Committee though, probably quite soon It'll be interesting (but not amusing) if the members of the Planning Committee turn it down won't it ?

OK Vic where is all that money (that Howard mentioned) going if it is not on the new building and equipment.
The fiasco is that it is taken so long to get to this stage and it is still not even through planning.

You'd be surprised what some planning committee members vote down Howard - some bury themselves in minutia and won't/can't see the bigger picture - the greater benefit, even when it's an outline planning application.
If the District is to grow and prosper, some brave decisions will (and do) have to be made.
They hadn't submitted any plans before because they were determining what facilities would be there (birthing units etc.); I guess now that they have gone through that process, it should be all steam ahead.

As I have gived up being a member of the N.H.S. and also do not go to any meetings if there has been some,I can only go on where it was when I was a member.Th ere was only £20million put by in the new build and that is not alot, even less now because of the long wait.Sorry but that is all I know.

I'm happy a decision has been made despite the generally held view it's still the worst option.
I can't understand how £15-£16m without the birthing unit is now £21m.
What extra is going in to justify 25%+ increase.
Happy if it's extra facilities but otherwise how is this justified when building costs are going down?
Perhaps the Trust will explain. It was officially passed by their Finance Committee on Friday.

have to say i am speaking from a position of ignorance here knowing nothing about the construction business.
however market forces over the last decade would have pushed prices up due to the olympic building programme, now all those builders are available surely prices must drop?
