Okay, my final post on this. If you were to scout around the web looking at other forums and social networks you'd probably be quite reassured by just how TAME the catholic-bashing has been on DF. It's almost uniquely civilized on this website to an extraordinary degree, particularly on a subject that has got millions of people's blood boiling and caused a huge division (as religion always does). The anti-catholic feeling in the UK is far bigger than this forum, it's big enough to demonstrate that many in this nation want to stand up for the secular society, want to stand against child abuse, and want to express their free speech. I wonder if we'd all be so quick to try and shut up the voices of protest had we been attacking Jehovas Witnesses if they were faced with the same charges? Nobody seems to jump to their defense in a hurry. Double standards maybe, who knows?
But anyway, point taken, I shall now keep my trap shut and enjoy my religion bashing elsewhere. But at least I can feel comfortable in my resolve knowing I live free of compromise on the subject of religion. Dennis Potter sums it up for me: Religion is the wound, not the bandage.

rick
you are correct, there are many social networks and forum that attract the lunatic fringe.
my personal favourite is facebook, when confronted by people angered by over 30,000 tributes to the late murderer raoul moat, they stated that it did not breach their code of ethics.
hopefully dover forum will keep to it's own code of ethics.

That`s okay Keith. Good posting Phil, though it should be on my Two Faced Vatican thread, as that was what that was all about mate. He seems at odds though to what the pope said in his speech at Twickenham, SW London on Friday night. This is what I`m never happy about with the Vatican. See news item.
Tell them that I came, and no one answered.

I think that the last posting by Paul

sums up the situation, enough has been said.

Rick Jones, Catholics and Jehova's Witnesses have quite liberal laws in this Country to follow, and these laws do not prevent them from bringing their message over. There is no persecution against these groups preaching and writing their views. Likewise, many other Christian religious groups are free to preach their views.
Also, I am free to believe in the Fair Lady and have no intention of not doing. There is no law banning people from believing in Jesus Christ and the Message.

Totally agree with you Keith - people will never agree so lets move on

There's always a little truth behind every "Just kidding", a little emotion behind every "I don't care" and a little pain behind every "I'm ok".
