The Cllrs appear to be sidelined by the unelected officers who do as they please.

I tell you I will never be made an honorary Freeman now .That boat has well and truly sailed .You have to be nominated by two serving Councillors .No loyalty these days .I served my twenty seven years and was in line for the award .Still I did what I could for my community.

Since this fiasco started we have only had one correct collection, last week no food collected (thank goodness we use the bags in the bin) so ours was stinky and full to the top, this week rubbish collected a day late.
The whole situated should really have been sorted by now as their excuses are running a bit thin after all this time. The company are quite simply not full filling their contract.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Two former councillors of the same political hue who appear to be agreeing with what the man in the High Street has been saying for some time - viz that our district council is run by a bunch of w***ers?
A bunch of walkers? At least they are practicing a healthy lifestyle themselves!
Do nothing and nothing happens.

Initially we were given a leaflet with a new schedule, two weeks later we got another one that changed the sequence around. It then went back to square one.
I checked the website on Monday and confirmed that on Thursday it would be re-cycling. It wasn't collected. Checking again it had changed to refuse!
This morning it appeared that the re-cycling would be collected again only to find that it had apparently been collected at 07.38! Chasing the dust cart (sorry, "freighter") up the road I found that they were collecting refuse.
The obliging collectors then phoned in to report it for me as I had no hope of talking to anyone at the council on a Saturday morning.
Lo and behold they turned up and hour later with a different freighter and cleared the re-cycling.
The collectors told me that they get a lot of flak about the mismanagement when it's not their fault.
Apparently we will get another leaflet soon with a new timetable. I can't wait.
Have a nice week#end.

Not only you were confused about Thursday's elections

How many saw ITV news tonight .It features a sheltered scheme in Eastry.Their bins had not been emptied for months .Seems strange state of affairs. Why did .they not go up to DDC?Why not contact their Councillors .In fact one of their Councillors deals with waste.

You. Should challenge them when they come for your vote .The public must ensure the right people are elected.

Individuals are reluctant to put themselves forward and having to run the gauntlet of trial by social media. There are people who spend hours trawling various sites to try to dig up whatever dirt they can - going back to teenage years. I doubt any of us are without things we’ve said or done that we would rather forget and of which we aren’t proud, but would we be happy to have our faults highlighted? Any comments are always up for scrutiny and I suspect there are many very talented individuals who would rather not put themselves though it. A huge pity because the electorate miss out.

Well, I was wondering what all the fuss is about and now I know, waste out on time and still uncollected. I feel complete now that I'm living what you have all felt for some time.
I thought we were immune because of who lives in my area.....
