Saw 5 Dutch cycling past Bobby's barrow today then realised that the Cyclist Dismount sign is at the wrong angle for Cyclists to see it between Bobby's Barrow and Mcdonalds.
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

It might not be in Holland where the bike rules.

I had a close call in Amsterdam when a cyclist went hell for leather to avoid being caught by the lights, but in the Netherlands cyclists seem to have priority.

what i can remember about holland is that they have adequate and safe cycle lanes for their many cyclists.
i don't remember any pavement cycling though.

As you know my wife has just come back from Holland and she tells me cycles have the right of way over ever thing and if you are in the way and get take out it is down to you.

One thing has always puzzled me: we have cycle lanes, bus lanes, taxi spaces. Where are the lanes for spacehoppers? Think how green they are - I think we should campaign for more right-of-way lanes for spacehoppers nationwide.

We should definitely push DDC for this Bern, just think, it will be a first for Dover - 'Spacehopper lanes for all' - Think Green

I can feel a campaign coming on..............

But if they're the same as cyclists, they'll be all over the place, no lane discipline.
Can they bounce through red traffic lights ?
Will they be licensed ?
Will they bounce all the way up Cannon Street and Biggin Street ?
Will we get space-hopper police and will they be as effective at controlling them, as they are of cyclists ?
Roger
I foresee spacehopper tests and a licence system - the only problem is where to hang the plates........ suggestions on a postcard please. There is a viable market for detachable indicators that can be stuck to the hoppers shoulders and operated like the old VW indicators on the side of the cars, and I would l love to see spacehopper police walloping up the Folkestone road.........

Here's an even more original idea- let's have spaces and lanes for the use of pedestrians.

Cor; imagine a place just for people to walk - now isn't that a novel idea ?? No space-hoppers, no cyclists, no motor cars etc. just people. It'll never catch on.
Who would police it ?

the problem persists, these two within minutes of each other.
one i would like to have caught with my camera was the cyclist using the road went straight through a red light at speed causing a family of four to scatter around to avoid being knocked down.

Is the botch-up pavement widening near Morrisons a cycle path or some other plan. If a cycle path what happens when it ends at the carpark entrance, the existing pavement from there on is quite narrow so no room for pedestrian and cyclist.
I say botch-up as the original pavement has a new pretty wavy edge on the river side.
