the intention(if a referendum is ever held) is to ask 3 questions as detailed on barry's blog.

clearly from barryw's postings the E.U. lets get out brigade are still not confident of winning a referendum, and barryw is correct the worst thing that can hapopen is a
no vote if your intention is to withdraw from the eu.
so for me, its all bad timing

I would demonstrate in favour of a yes vote outside Westminster, but then, if Parliament turns down a referendum on the EU, this will see masses of people go over to support UKIP.
I think the recent Yougov and Angus Reid polls have clearly shown that there are by far more people in Britain who want out of the EU (about 49%), than who want to stay in (about 29%).
The undecided will in the mean time be more likely to have decided to vote for leaving, as every day the economy worsens in Britain and in Europe and the EU rumbles on into total failure.
If Parliament votes against a referendum, or does a wishy washy approach, people will massively realise that they have lost all sense of reality.
Either way we will be out of the EU before long!
It is collapsing, just a matter of gritting our teeth and holding out till it happens.

Vic - read the blog. The best result is not a referendum but a renegotiation that would end up with the same result at the end of the day.
If we went your route then we would risk getting stuffed completely and be stuck in the EU forever more. To get out we have to be a lot cleverer than it seems UKIP are. You lot are aligned with the pro-EU LibDems and that must tell you something.

Barry, UKIP is not aligned with the LibDems in any way whatsoever!

Yes they are, of course they are - they both want an in/out referendum. The Libdems know it will be lost and we would be locked in the that damned organisation forever. UKIP are just not bright (along with some of my side) enough to realise the trap that's set for them.

it is funny trealy watching barryw post on this subject
wants out of the E U yet is convinced won't win a referendum vote(that tells a story in itself)
although re negotiation is a way forwad, what is to be renegotiated?
theres so many divisions will open up on each of the individual issues as they are highlighted
we are in the E.U. for some years to come,

No Keith - I am being realistic. Look at the history of refenda, look at those we would be up against and consider the picture they would paint, the scare stories. They would literally do that, lie and scare the public who tend to default to the establishment view in most cases, the easy way. Its a lot easier to scare than top convince by good argument.
We can and will get out and win a refendum to do it but we must have a better question to put than a mere in or out. Renegotiated terms that would re-align the UK to a Swiss style arrangement with the EU is one that could be won and the EU lobby will not be able to scare people.

barryw;
pro and anti E.U supporters give out scare stories, but its up to the likes of ourselves to convince us all that out is the best option.
to date you are failing in that quarter

Alarm bells are ringing: the Commons debate on an EU referendum will be urgently brought forward to Monday. The Prime Minister and the Foreign Secretary will attend.
Things have changed! They have realised how urgent it is.
Sorry Keith

all sounds decidedly dodgy alex, politicians rarely rush things.
must mean that dave and co are putting pressure on their sheep and don't trust them to vote the way they want should they have time to think about it.

Let us hope they are doing and and getting the message across. We do not want any kamikazi tactics forcing an in/out referendum, it is too important an issue to be left to that.

If that were so, Howard, then they'd lose support overnight among the populace.

Barry, you are telling us constantly that Britain must remain in the EU.
This is your message. I doubt many people will understand that.
It's time to vote, not in 10 years, or 5 years, but now.

No Alexander - I am telling you we must get out of the EU. Try reading what I am actually saying, then try thinking about it and understanding why.
What I am telling you is that an in/out referendum is utter madness that is doomed to fail.
This is too important to be left to that asd, quite frankly is an idiotic move.
We will get out but must adopt much clever tactics.
