19:0837326It was a Cabinet decision, not just Nigel's - collective responsibility.
Nigel is the Cabinet member responsible for toilets, so it was his name.

20:4437337i always assumed what roger said to be the case, it would need cabinet authority.
only one person can make the call to the officers to deal with the decision.
in this case it was our susan's ex.

21:4737345your thread got too stressful for me colin.
what with the carbon paper and ricks stain on his step, it became too much.
keiths endless, needless, personal attacks on nigel make this less traumatic.

21:5537347I have just come back from the River Parish council meeting as a member of the public, and the D,D,C, have asked them to take over the Kearsney Abbey Toilets and it was a no from them.so is the last toilet at both the parks out there to close down now.It is a wait and see, but just think if they do that with the many 100s of the public at go out there all the year around and no toilet it could now happen just think of the mess out there around the trees etc.

22:2237357Vic I wished you had told me you were going to the meeting .I wanted to go but as none of the councillors live this end of the village i dare not risk the ice .Vic you are jumping the gun here mate .The Parish council as were all parish councils and Town councils asked if they would consider taking over toilets in their area .The River parish Council said NO .I emailed Paul and he knew nothing about it and I can assure you the Parish council will not take them over .It is a stragetic park and DDC will maintain responsibility .Lets not start mishief making .
Jaquie some times things cvome home to roast .I will say no more .

23:2137371Sue is right Roger,it has never been put on an Agenda at Cabinet, and when I called the officer who shut them he said it was all down to Nigel, makes you wonder if we are on the same Council when things are not discussed or even circulated.
This item has been put on the Scruity meeting for Wednesday perhaps we will have the answers, although we may not.
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

08:3637383Well, all I can say it that two (Senior) people have told me, quite specifically, it was a Cabinet decision - I'm a back-bench Councillor, so can only accept what I've been told.
I don't do cover-ups.

09:4637386I don't think its a case of 'stitching anyone up' but its an opportunity for more transparency and honesty from local govt elected officials.
Us plebs have the right to ask who's responsible for making the decisions.
It would appear that whomsoever decided to close the loo's whether it be an individual or a committee made a very popular decision. They obviously have their finger on the pulse. It's right up there with "I can't see any icebergs" and JFK's choice of an open top limo to tour Dallas.
